Ok - I watched the game because I love college sports - however I did not care who won. Deep down I might have been pulling for Memphis but it was DEEP down if I was.
I do have one thing to say about the game. I thought the officiating was VERY one sided. There were many calls against KU that just didnt get called. I thought it was called one way and that had alot to do with the outcome of the game.
Just my opinion. Congrats Jayhawks. Great Comeback!

wow. that's a bad call by you man. there should have been 2 technicals called on memphis for spiking the ball of the ground. one on rose and on the the guy with 3 first names.
as for the one sided officiating. did you really watch the game? or just glance from time to time? memphis was tearing us up when we had the ball, and we were tearing them up when they had the ball. i thought that the game was just overall an example of either poor officiating, or officials actually lettingn the guys play but stil keeping control when it got a little too rough. Kansas has been getting the back end of calls all year long, it was good to see the officials not harp on either team for once.

I'm not a fan of either team, but I thought the officiating was fine. IMO there is nothing worse than officials that call every little tick tack foul. Let them play. Personally, I thought that, except for the last 2:30 minutes of the game when Kansas was intentionally fouling, half of the fouls should have been "no calls".

No bias in this opinion? Clearly.

I am very critical of officials and I actually thought this was one of the better officiated games I have seen in the tournament. They let the kids decide the game. That is the way it is supposed to be done. Make the calls that affect a play, but otherwise let the kids play. I thought it was a consistently called game for a change.

No bias?
I saw a lot of bad no calls both ways. Someone mentioned the two technicals that should have been called against Memphis (regarding the handling of the basketball). However, no one mentions the KU offensive series just prior to when Memphis got the foul call to go up by 9. Collins was CLEARLY fouled as he shot that ball, but no call there.
Strangely enought, I have to agree with the person that said this was actually one of the best officiated games they had seen in the tournament. I would actually say that it was one of the best I had seen all year (which doesn't say much for the officiating all year).

Disagree. I also watched the whole game and have no vested interest and I didn't hear, see, or think about the officiating being one sided until this post. I thought the officials did a fine job and I usually don't think that way.

The officiating was fine, there were a few missed calls both ways, there were a few tick tack both ways. The only things missed were the 2 technical fouls that should've been called against Memphis 1) for Mr. Joey Dorsey carrying the ball after a dunk 2) CDR for slamming the ball on the court. I guess you could even argue during OT the foul against Collins was flagrant, he clearly knocked him down after the pass had been made with no attempt on the ball whatsoever, however the player that fouled him from Memphis helped him off the floor, showing his class.
They weren't called, so what? The game never got out of hand and both teams played with great respect for each other and showed real class time and time again by helping each other off the court after a foul.

Early on, Kansas benefitted from several no-calls on over the back type of fouls, on rebounds. That's significant, especially on the offensive end, giving them more shots than they deserved. That loose officiating was clearly getting into Dorsey's head, he was upset by those no calls. His poor performance in the game was influenced by his frustration with the officials early non calls.
Dorsey's after-dunk carry was not "T"-able. First offense should get a delay warning (which wasn't issued, to my knowledge) but that wasn't a T situation.
CDR slam on the court was, as Billy Packer noted, a great no call because it wasn't done in response to anything the refs did. It was done in frustration with himself for not hitting foul shots. There wasn't any way the refs could associate that with any call that went against Memphis or interpret that as him showing them up. So, they didn't call the "T" which was the right call.
Later in the game, after the first 10 mins or so, I thought pretty even officiating.

As a fan of the big ten I am quite familiar with Ed Hightower and his officiating nonsense. He is notorious for slowing down the game, trying to steal the spotlight, and generally making the game miserable to watch. The moment I saw him I was extremely concerned about the game. I was hoping he would be exposed on the grandest stage and hopefully removed from power following the game.
The non-call on the technical was clearly absurd. You cannot slam the ball to the ground and let it bounce up to the scoreboard in college hoops. Thats a tech every day of the year. Hightower saw it and decided not to call it. Terrible non call. Fortunately for Hightower, Chalmers hits that three and bails him out. If KU goes on to lose that game Hightower would have been burned at the stake by KU fans. Glad KU won but for the greater good of the game I wish they would have lost.
