Seriously, our 5th starter had a 3.81 ERA last season.
Which is why i'm very surprised that i'm the only person here agreeing with Gammons' statement

The Jays do have the best pitching staff (including bullpen) in the ALI told you earlier, in a different thread, that I thought you were selling your staff short by calling them 'good' instead of great, in case you missed it...

Don't get me wrong, I made a bet with my friend that the Jays would NOT win 90 games this year, and until I see them do things they've struggled with in the past I'm sticking to that statement.

However, the reason I say that is because this is one of the worst offenses I've even seen in my life...especially on the road. If they get ANY consistancy in the offense and are aggresive on the basepaths (which they have been early on) I will concide defeat on that bet...barring injuries.

I saw it whatzizname, but I really try not to get too excited about my sports teams. Just look at my profile and you'll understand why.

We do have the best staff in the AL, perhaps all of baseball. Only thing is we need to stay healthy.

Only thing is we need to stay healthy. The injuries we suffered were all good, with the exception of B.J. Ryan. Without the injuries, Stairs never plays everyday, Marcum/McGoawn/Litsch never get their shot, etc. All the players who got hurt sucked BEFORE and AFTER their injuries, so it's not like we missed anything when they were gone. And for most of the guys, their replacements played better. Injuries were not an excuse for the team's mediocrity last season, bad managing and awful offense was.

Looks to me like the statement could turn out to be correct. If the two M's have matured enough to be consistent, if Burnett stays healthy then I do not see why not. The other good pichting staff's are all very vunerable to injury and old age.

I like your last point Andrew, looks like the Jays really have a chance, I just wish that Rodgers would have believed enough to pump in another 5 to 7 million for one more outfeilder. This is the year to strike.

Nyy1 says he doesnt like Gammons because he has strange man crushes on players?  How about the entire world media's crush on Derek Jeter?  I'm not saying Jeter isnt a great ballplayer, but c'mon.  You have to hate all sportswriers then.  Jeter got credit for winning all 26 World Series titles the Yanks have had and he wasn't alive for most of 'em.  I am not a Yankees hater, but ur comment was absurd.  Actually I hate the Red Sox, not the fans of em cuz I dont know any but the team.

I agree 100%. Guys like Troy Glaus, Reed Johnson, Gregg Zaun, and Lyle Overbay are so bad offensively, they should never have been big-league players in the first place. I'd much rather have guys like Hector Luna, Ray Olmedo, Russ Adams, Joe Inglett, and Sal Fasano stepping to the plate. Who needed an injured Vernon Wells playing when we had
