Wow! Rick Ankiel seems to have picked up where he left off. Three homers already this season, He continues to be one of the feel good stories in baseball. It is so good to see him up and playing again after his pitching career got off track. He is still young and still could play for a decade. It is great that the Cardinals decided to stick with Ankiel when many teams would have cut him, worked with him, and now have been ultimately rewarded.

I agree. When Ankiel indicated that he didn't want to pitch any longer, I figured he was finished as a big leaguer. The Cardinals saw his live bat and athleticism and the guy is now blossoming in the outfield. It's a pretty amazing story already and may get a whole lot more amazing before all is said and done.

I'm really glad I started him on my fantasy team, really paid off. I can't wait to see how the rest of the season goes with him, he looks really good right now.

Guys, this kid is live... He is a real big leaguer... I'm sad he doesn't pitch anymore (given better instruction I think this kid could have won a CY Young), but happy at the same time because he will be a seriously good ballplayer at whatever position the Cards play him at... He's a gamer...
He's a complete player, and has alot of ability... I remember when FSU recruited him, I was jazzed about him then... This guy will be a great ball player in this league, and I'm happy to see that...

I totally agree with both of you fellas.
#24 Rick Ankiel is some kind of awesome!!! I still wonder if the so-called experts are still gonna pick our Redbirds team to finish down around last place??? Not if Mr. Ankiel has anything to say or do about it!!! lol.
The return of Ankiel is one totally feel good story that will be talked about for years to come.
GOOD GOIN' ANKIEL AND GO Cardinals!!!! 68

Fantastic start. I'm glad to see all of the negative stuff from last year hasn't affected him this year. It will be hard to put all of that stuff to rest but it should be. The Cardinals have a great group of young players and I hope Larussa continues to develop them. Ankiel can easily lead the way. How about the great defense he has shown so far!

I'm really hoping LaRussa leaves him in front of Pujols(I don't see any reason why he would move him in the first place) because hes going to see alot of fastballs and strikes because pitches arn't going to want to face Albert with men on. Keep it up Rick.

What a moron... erbrown_msu can't you just let a good player be a good player? Why does every one who can play have to be on the juice... This kid was good when he was recruited to FSU... And hes just now starting to realize his MLB potential... Leave him alone...
Dude, go wreck your board, and leave our guys alone... You're just pissed that the Cubs haven't won anything since your great-grandad was a child...

It is very goos to see Rick playing like the All Star he was suppose to be. This team has the potential to avg.5-6 runs a games. Looking forward to this and getting a bigger lead in the division.

Risk Ankiel is really suprising me. I knew he could hit, but the way he is playing in center is amazing. He may not be as spectacular as Jim Edmonds in the field, but he may become just as good. He is a five tool player, and I'm glad the Cardinals never lost patience with him.

The only thing we can see is the ball flying over the fence, and then we lose sight of it. However I did see the cork fly out of Sammy Sosa's bat when he was a Cub. Oh yea, I almost forgot, he took steroids too. Another deluded Cub fan. I know you people are really happiest when you lose 100 games. Get ready again with that buffoon you call a manager.

I'm loving the hot bats that the Cardinals have right now. Six position players hitting over 300 and Barton is over 400. Great job sweeping the Nats!!!

Yeah, they are playing really well right now. I think the way Ankiel plays the game really motivates and sets the tone in the clubhouse. It seems much more positive this year so far.
And for the Cub fan, isn't your club going to hit the 100 World Series drought during this season.....oh yeah, they are. How about you worry about your own team at this point. Us poor Cardinals are going on our 2 year drought......

Ankiel is so fun to watch. I am loving the success he is having early on right now. I sure hope when the time comes the Cardinals pay up and secure this guy for a long time. He is a fan favorite and deserves to be a Cardinalf for a long time.
