THe sad part is the standard Wooden set at UCLA became so high that no coach since has had a chance to survive really. The standard has been lowered a little bit in the 30 years since Wooden retired but what most people don't know is wooden didn't win it all at UCLA till his 16th season to win it all. The crazed boosters also fail to realize that the depth of talent is so much deeper now than in Wooden's day. As a life long bruin fan and grad you can't expect the things they did to continue. No coach in the last 20 years at UCLA except Harrick who was run out of town for violations has won a title. Much less this kind of tournament success. All he lacks is the banner and the title.

MMM, I wonder if all that pressure on this team maybe just a little bit more than they can handle..

Another fact about all of John Woodens Titles, and I may be Blaspheming here. But in those days there were only 16 teams in the tournament, and you usually didn't play out of your region until the final four. The legendary Coach made a tournament living by feasting on the Idahos and Weber States. Don't get me wrong, I have tremendous admiration for coach Wooden's accomplishments.....but I contend that Howland has gone farther down a tougher road

Where does Gary Parrish get his facts?  UCLA has not lost their last 2 final four appearances.  They won their first and made it to the title game.  How can he have Luc Richard Mbah a Moute quoted as saying that they lost their last 2 final four games when he was one of the players on the 2006 team that played in the title game?  I also noticed that cbssportsline said UCLA had lost their last 2 final four games in the "The Edge" article matching UCLA and Memphis, but later changed it to correctly say that the 2006 and 2007 teams failed to win the National Title.

Your Tar Heels wiil make the finals against the Bruins but the wont be able to contain the UCLA  guards.  Both guards are quick and can score.  Also Love is the best passing center in college right now.  With quick guards cutting to the basket it will be too much for Tar Heels. Also I would take Love over Hansbrough anyday.

And when Love cant move his 270 pound butt up the court after a miss or make Hansbrough will be at the other end for the dunk.

btw... You better hope we don't make it past memphis...... We will own you in the final.

Expectations have dropped way down since Wooden left.  3 final fours in a row is amazing.  keep getting us there, Howland...... title will come.

btw.... you have a zero chance winning a NC if you don't get to the final four!

There were 65 teams when the tourney started and there will be only one happy team when it is finished. If teams like UK or UCLA don't win it all it doesn't matter how deep you went in the tourney it will be a failure.
