I'm very upset that we let another great Ky kid get away. Say what you want but this guy can play and will make a huge difference on UT's squad. I'm sure our offensive scheme probably scared him away. Congrats to UT, Bruce Pearl has done a great job there and I'm glad. We need great teams in the SEC, hopefully Horn can make some noise at USC.

The SEC is going to be really strong next year. Kentucky and Florida will be back up there. Tennessee isn't going anywhere. Vandy will suffer a little with the loss of Foster, but they're still going to be tough. Not to metion Miss. St. and Arkansas. We are capable of having four teams constantly ranked in the top 25 next year. When Tourney time comes next year we will be well prepared.

With as many guards as we have on the roster I was concerned about him choosing another school over our beloved Kentucky Wildcats. He should fit in well at Tennessee with Bruce Pear l's system.
I agree whole heartedly that we need a big man inside more than another guard but I would have welcomed him with open arms anyway. The more McDonalds All Americans we land the better. But I am not going to lose sleep over him choosing not to play at Kentucky either.
But, as Jubal stated in his post, he has not signed his LOI yet and has backed out of one commitment already so nothing is for certain. If indeed he does go to UT I hope he looses three games a year. Both conference games against UK and in the conference tourney against UK.

GoBig Blue, maybe you should change ur name to GoBigOrange. He never said anything about football. He was talking about basketball, and Guess what, UT is a second tier team AT BEST.

I really don't mind this at all. I would have loved to see him dressed in a UK uniform and I would have really enjoyed seeing how much he could develop under CBG as Acie Law did. I won't, however, lose sleep over this. It's the same as when we lost Singleton. I really, really, wanted to see Chris Singleton dressing in the blue and white next year but he committed to the Seminoles and I plan on cheering for him when I catch a Florida State game.
No loss of any recruit is too big to get over. There's always a replacement--no one is irreplaceable.
Good luck to him in the Orange. I'll be cheering for him anytime he plays against a team not named Kentucky.

Tennessee is a respectable program, but they are not in the same league as Kentucky. They have always been competitive and gave us more losses than any other program. However, how many championships, final fours, ncaa tournament appearances, ncaa tournament wins, all americans, sec championships, and sec tournament wins do they have. They fail in comparison with Kentucky's consistent success. Hopson is a talented individual but he does not grasp the concept of "team". He would have been a wasted scholarship here, but he may fit right in with your program. Go Cats!!!

Everyone just look at it like this: do we really want another Alex Legion that leaves us before the first semester even ends? I know that I dont want to take that chance. It is better in the long run that we get someone who is commited and dedicated to our program and not someone that plays for the name on the back on the jersey.

First let me weigh in on this subject, then i will address another. I have seen Hopson play. He's good. Has some talent. He will work well in UT's system, as he isnt afraid to hit the glass or slash through the lane. Has a decent jumper. However I can honestly say that I am not upset. Sure, he wouldve added depth at the guard position. But lets think about that for a minute- Deandre Liggens, Darius Miller, Jodie Meeks, Derek Jasper, Michael Porter, it goes on and on and on and on. My guess is, he wouldve been unhappy and left anyway. So, it doesnt ruin my day to see him go. We need a big man anyway. I mean a real big man.
Now that that is out of the way, lets talk about a snippy few comments I saw a ways back about UT and being a 2nd rate school.
Now, I assume that since we are talking about basketball, we are speaking of UT as an ARUGABLE 2nd rate basketball program. I only say arguable because, obviously, its being arguable. Its really not arguable in my mind, they are a 2nd rate school.
I dont say that out of anger, or hate for your program. I have been very impressed with the strides UT has made over the last few years. Congratulations to you, I hope your success continues.
But how can you really sit here and say you are a top notch basketball program? I mean, unless you consider top notch to be top 100. Do you really consider yourselves to be on the same level as Kansas, North Carolina, UCLA, or Kentucky?
Hell, Louisville, Georgetown, Memphis, Syracuse, Connecticut, Duke?
I mean, honestly, Tennessee is a second rate program. Its just the truth of the matter, whether you like it or not. It's not such a bad thing, really. Just because you arent elite doesnt mean you dont have a solid program.
