For everyone who keeps saying that the Dolphins should draft an offensive player with the first overall pick, be it Darren McFadden, Matt Ryan, or whoever, its not going to happen.  Bill Parcells is all about building the defense.  It's what he knows.  He will be fine with a servicable John Beck and talented Ronnie Brown.

Parcells left the Patriots after he argued with Bob Kraft because Parcells wanted to draft a defensive player and Kraft was hung up on Terry "Ouch Its My Knee Again" Glenn.  Chris Long will most likely be the pick, although I wouldn't count out Glenn Dorsey.  What I can guarantee is that the Tuna will get his defensive player this time around.

I hope they can trade out of the #1 slot.   But I don t think it will happen

Totally agree!!

Take Chris Long he has a thoroghbred, will never take a play off, seems to have high charachter!

We can grab a solid LT with our 1st pick in the second. There are no qb's worth taking #1, and who wants a high priced tackaling dummy. Were 3 years away from competing so why take the high profile positions when you have no o-line and a super old d.

why in the world would we take MCFadden?

It would be really stupid if they took McFadden or Ryan because of the personel they already have.  Ronnie Brown was coming into his own before he got hurt last seaon and I think its a little too early to judge Beck ( even thought he is 26).  I think they should trade it but if they its got to be Chris Long or Dorsey.

Hey I'm a Pats fan, but I was wondering if Parcells might go after Gholston. I know it seems high to take him 1st, but if the Pats and Jets Are after him wouldn't it make sense since Parcells will be installing a similar defense to the Pats and Jets

Totally agree with this post. Miami will go with one of the Long boys probably Chris Long as you indicated.

I think Miami will trade the 1st overall pick to Dallas for the 22nd and the 28th overall pick. They will be able to get a good quarterback and runningback or wide reciever at those spots. Dallas will have the elite running back they need to help put them in the superbowl. It makes the most sense for both teams.

Elite running back to help put them in the superbowl?

Let's be honest, McFadden cannot be referred to as "an elite running back" until he proves himself in the NFL.  Besides, I don't think Marion Barber is doing all that bad of a job right now.

I do agree that they'll trade their first pick though, the Big Tuna is smart and he'll work this draft for all he can.......and he needs to.

I agree that there's no offensive player worth taking at #1, unless it's McFadden, but that would be silly with Ronnie Brown there.

To all the people who say "trade down". Almost every team in the top 20 would love to trade down. It's just not going to happen. I know Jerry Jones could be blowing smoke, but I believe him that he's not interested in a top ten pick. I'd certainly rather have two picks in the 20s than the top overall in this draft.

I think it would be a better idea to after OT Jake Long. If they did, they could lock up an offensive line spot for the next 10 years. That would mean more protection for Beck and a larger running lane for Brown, thus a greater offensive effectiveness. Drafting Dorsey or Chris wouldn't be a bad idea, but they have an opportunity to get a really good LT. LT are easier spots to fill and they last a while. Look at Orlando Pace. St. Louis rode their OL to a Super Bowl victory in 1999 without a great defense. You can also misfire on defensive players with early first picks. Examples: Courtney Brown and DeWayne Robertson.
