well I dont understand what you memph heads are wanting. Are you wanting every person in the country to drop their affiliations with their college programs and say memphis is the greatest basketball team in the country to ever exist or what? thats what your quote sounds like. Mine says it like it is. They have been ranked #1. You dont get ranked #1 if you are some team that doesnt get proper respect. So, agian, if you want respect, let it play out. Dont, disrespect people and then ask them for respect.

I think that more people picked Memphis to lose in that region because they had the toughest road. Pitt, MSU, Stanford and Texas were all legitimate threats to beat Memphis if they had an off-night.
This team has had my respect for the last few seasons. There were a lot of good players returning to go with the addition of the best PG in the country. I've had them in the top 4 of every top 25 list I've posted this season.
That said, they do have flaws that I believe will be exposed by either UCLA, Kansas or UNC, but at the same time they'll do the same to them. Should be an excellent Final Four... even if Davidson somehow manages to crash the party.

I don't know if I was the person that you were talking about with the "bandwagon" stuff, but just in case let me explain my teams;
First, I am a very conflicted fan in the sports that I watch religiously (college B-ball and pro F-ball) and often find myself wearing the "wrong" colors.
Anyway, I was born in Portland (and don't really care about pro B-ball) hence the Trailblazers. I would go Nuggets #2 just because of Carmello.
I'll admit, I did jump on the bandwagon with the Mets, but that was in like 1985 and I was a kid and I can't imagine anyone would call a Mets fan a "bandwagoner" after so many disappointing seasons.
I grew up in D.C. but moved to Tampa in '89. Even though I love the Bucs and it was awesome to win the Superbowl, my #1 will always be the Redskins. I go to most to the TB homegames and some of my closest friends won't even hang out with me when the 'Skins come into town (which is ok since TB always seems to win anyway).
I didn't really get into hockey until I got to Tampa, so Lightening #1, with the Capitals a close #2.
My dad went to Syracuse and I have been an Orange B-ball fan since the 80's. That's a lot of years to be rooting for a team before getting the championship.
I went to UF, and didn't really care about college F-ball until I became a Gator in the mid 90's.
You probably weren't even talking to me, but since my college teams have done so well in the last 5 years, I may just be paranoid.

Memphis will get the respect when they WIN a damm championship. The reason why they don't get much respect is because of their weak schedule (only challenge was tennesse and they lost) and their terrible conference. If they were in any of the major conferences they would get the respect that they deserve. now that they have made it to the final four they will get abit of respect but THEY NEED TO WIN

Personally i do not have respect for memphis in general and until you can win it all you will never have my respect. I know that will never happen and yea you did have a great 2 games this weekend but you also have 2 bad games in this tourney. With that said all i seen today is a bunch of dunking and a weak Texas team who used their best game against Standford. Nothing impresses me about Texas,Standford,Tenn.,or Memphis. Kansas also didn't show me anything to say they can stick it out against UNC. So strap up and lets play some serious ball and i hope you make it to the big dance on Monday because it would be icing on the cake to squeeze all your hope out of you and then cut down the nets and leave you there crying. Hey, dangeross..
For you to not respect a college program that has never won a championship, well, just remember, the players stick around for only 4 years at most. However, let's make a conjecture on a certain panel of basketball experts and see if they respect the Tigers, namely the UCLA Bruins' coaching staff. After what the Tigers have shown in this Tourney (esp by beating Texas essentially on the road) well.. I would like to think that the UCLA coaches... are pooping in their pants right now.
Watch some basketball and come to an intelligent conclusion, don't just form a casual opinion.

The pollsters may have some respect for Memphis, but that's about it. 75% of the so-called experts had them losing to MSU and the same 75% had Texas beating them and I will be willing to bet that they will pick them to lose again next weekend. Look at the threads on this board. They were picked as the first #1 to lose and they may still be, but it will be in the final four and another one seed will join them, someone has to lose. Look at the thread ranking the last eight and last six teams in on this board. 75% of the posters had them in the bottom 2 or three.
I hope it continues. The team seems to thrive on the negativity.

Badters Ballers,
It is not about giving respect but how you'd rank the quality of schedule for each team playing in the NCAA tourney. Getting a #1 seed is a big deal and no other respect is required. So in my book, the Tigers got respect for being seeded 1. All else is earned. And should they succeed, no need to wonder where is the respect. Good luck to all final 4 teams!
