WTF. i know he cant kick 50+ yarders as well as he used to, and he makes us use up 2 spots on the roster for him and a kickoff guy. but he was still a lifelong Bronco. and ill miss him.

M*ther F^CK&R, Jason Elam? Playing for the Falcons you got to be kidding me? Wait till our kicker misses a game winning FG, if its against the Raiders someone better hold me down. Nice AV Denvergregs, too bad we wont be seeing that anymore. Rod Smith should be nervous if he hasnt retired yet. This really hurts the Broncos,

As sad as I am to see Elam go, the guy was asking too much. He is now the second highest paid kicker in the league in terms of guarantees. Way too much.
I don't see how people can complain and harp on Denver for over-paying players that are old, and then turn around and throw a fit about not paying Elam. Do you guys just like to complain?
It really is sad to see him go, but his stock is falling.

Forgive the double post...
That money is money that can go to guys like Marshall when we re-sign him, or Elvis Dumerville, or Tony Scheffler.
It is sad when a team cannot be loyal to their long-time veterans, and I would have loved to see Denver keep Elam, but at what cost?

Jason Elam is worth the money- all he does is tie and win games for the Broncos. There aren't too many other players who could say that last season. Just wait until there is a must have field goal and Shanahan puts in a no name kicker and it's wide to the right. Elam has been one of the greatest clutch performers in Broncos history and that is why he is worth the money even if he is only a kicker. Broncos fans will be sorry. Our record would have been 3 and 13 without him last year.

Rube and Bronx said it best, we're sobbing too much all the time and making too big a deal of this. He'll be the second highest paid kicker in the NFL, why pay that much money.... He's only a kicker and he's 37 (or is it 38?). Great career and he'll always be remembered as a Bronco. He had to go sooner or later, at least he got big pay.
Kickers come and go in the NFL, we just had ours for a very long time. When the face of your franchise is a kicker, you have problems. Do you think the Colts miss Vanderjagt, do you think the Patriots miss Vinateiri (although he was magnificent they still got great production from their new kicker of the future), do you think the Cowboys miss any of their kickers before Nick Folk, (and for that matter) do you think the Giants miss Jay Feely? No. It's really not that big a deal, although it is sad to see him go. Good news is that he still left on the best possible note.

Wait a minute...Elam wins games with his clutch leg, and Shannahan loses them with his questionable calls and aquisitions. I think we let the wrong guy go
