Did you guys see the quote from the press conference with Rick Barnes, head coach of the Longhorns? He stated that the Arkansas fans better not treat his team badly when they play in North Little Rock, AR for the first rounds of the NCAA tourney. He stated if they boo his team that Texas has enough money to buy out the game they have scheduled in Fayetteville for next year. What kind of mess is that? The last time the Hogs played a NCAA tourney game in Austin, TX, the fans were relentless and I would expect no less for a nice payback. I just can't believe that he would threaten to pull out the game next year. My response is so what? Like we have to have Texas on our Basketball schedule???? Oh well I have vented now. Any responses would be appreaciated.

It's statements like that which make people think that Texas is home to a bunch of babies. I mean come on! It's D1 college basketball, if you don't want to get booed when you play away from home, you should move down to coach D3 or even back to middle school. **Disclaimer: I play basketball at a D3 school and haven't been booed. I'm sure it happens somewhere, so don't bite my head off! :)**
It's just annoying that he'd say that, even if it is true (that they could buy out the game next year). That isn't something you say to the press! What an idiot! lol

I did not hear that!!!! I will see if I can find that press conference.
Last year when the Aggies played the Longhorns Coach Barnes said the Aggie yells were just like some junior high (he may have said high school) and they should add yells like: "Watermelon, watermelon, watermelon rind look at the score board and see who's behind." Of course the Ags are steeped in tradition and they do some fun things that are of course annoying to the opponent. This year when the Aggies were beating the Longhorns with less than a minute to go they had to belt out "WATERMELON, WATERMELON, WATERMELON RIND, LOOK AT THE SCOREBOARD AND SEE WHO'S BEHIND."
After that game at the press conference Barnes said last year he made some suggestions to the Aggie students and they follow directions well.
It was all in fun. A great rivalry.

After his comments I fully expect Texas will be booed relentlessly
So why should he care if Texas gets booed and heckled. If boos bother his team then they lack mentally toughness. Just play the game and dont worry about what the fans do.

I FULLY EXPECT ARKANSAS FANS GO TO THE L.R. GAMES JUST TO PULL AGAINST TEXAS. THAT'S THE FIRST THING I THOUGHT OF WHEN I SAW TEXAS GET THAT DRAW. WE HATE THE LONGHORNS. WE USED TO WEAR SHIRTS OF A RAZORBACK KID PEEING ON THEIR STATE WHEN WE WERE KIDS.

well i think u guys should absolutely blast him as much as i hate the razorbacks right now as they have beaten vandy 97 times in a row it seems lol i hate whiners more i wouldnt want him in my gym next year do everything and anything to piss him off maybe all the gyms he goes to should do that so maybe he wont take his team anywhere lol just take his ball and go home lol

Are you kidding me? Would you give K State a break? This is a rivalry team to Arkansas. You never give a rivalry team a break even if they are 0-32. Especially if they are whiners. This is March Madness and I promise that Barnes will be Mad by the time he leaves Little Rock.

Thanks for the link. I can assure you he doesn't speak for the majority of Longhorns. When you play away, you expect to be booed. It's just part of the game. I wonder if he gets a warm and fuzzy feeling when he plays in Norman, Ok. or College Station, Tx. If you can't play in all kinds of environments, then you don't need to be there.
