Now I am a Laker fan, and I know flopping can get out of hand, but i think the inventor of the flop was Magic Johnson. He mostly flopped on the offensive end to draw fouls, which worked quite effectively for the three point play. I remember him almost on the floor and throwing the ball up and scoring. Robert Horry was also a great defensive flopper.
All time would have to go to Vlade. He did it constantly.
The current flopper award goes to Raja Bell, but he seems to play with anger which really sets off the fans.
Laimbeer was a good flopper as well as Malone. The thing about Malone was, he would grab an arm on the way down and pull the other player on top of him.
Also, we can't forget about Rodman, he would get up smiling and clapping, now that would set me off...

Vlade was "King" and he did perfect it when he was a "King"...
Dirk gets my VOTE for trying to draw a foul call by Overreacting to contact... He clearly is in the running for the Academy Award for Body and facial contortions!!
DWade must work on this skill during his rehab and off season!! Did not all of the Heat have an off-season anyway?
Fight ON!!

Not only is Ginobili the biggest flopper. He does the soccer thing each time where he curls up in the fetal position like he's been maimed or something. It is hilarious.

It may be flopping, but sometimes the refs need a little help spotting players pushing off for rebounds, or getting space on offense. Look at Kobe or Iverson -- they push off for spacing all the time and it's a foul that rarely gets called against them. Defenders get tired of light contact fouls on defense while offensive players get kiddie-glove treatment by the refs when pushing off. So, I'm going to defend flopping to a certain extent. If they're flopping because they're fouled, it's ok to me.

Vlade Divac without a doubt. I'm a Laker fan and hated him for it when he was in LA. Then we traded him for Kobe, and got Shaq. Thank God. Best move ever. Every year he got worse. And those series' against Shaq was just too awfull. Disgusting to see someone flop that much. It was great seeing him lose.

It seems that we have a winner in Vlade. I have to agree with a previous poster though who pointed out that Lambier was flopping well before him.
In response to flopping when fouled is ok? I don't think you could call it flopping if your acctually being fouled. Well, actually I guess you could if you are making the contact seem worse than it is. I still think these "giants" need to man up. It's ridiculous for a 6 foot, 160 lb. player can barely touch a 7 foot, 300 lb player, and that player falls to the groung, writhering in pain, only to get up monents later and be just fine. If it was me, I would be embarassed to let people think I fall down so easy.

Hey, I have to defend my Spurs just a hair. Manu and Parker go to the rim with reckless abandonment and fall down most of the time. They don't always ask for the calls even though they do get fouled a lot. What I consider flopping is when someone falls over with no one even next to them. Manu does take it a little far sometimes especially when he is not getting the calls and feels he needs to help the refs out. Everyone in the NBA flops and whines once in the while, just some look stupid doing it. That is what I call a bad flopper, (Dirk) not to mention any names... lol

I remember a game Bill Walton announced back in the early 90's and he repeatedly (and in annoying Bill Walton fashion) talked about Divac being the biggest flopper. My vote is for Vlade......"I am no longer irritating" Vlade's only line in a Schick razor commercial back in the LA Days....
