I'm not a Buckeye fan actually, i'm a Michigan fan, and i think we grew from our SUPER tough sched this year.
The reason why i don't think it would be in Ohio Stat's interest to play Kent State is because i beleive Kent State has a good to great chance in beating them, and by playing a team like Kent State, losing to them would be a lot worse than losing to a tough team like UCLA, or Kansas or whoever. I Think a loss to Kent State would look bad for Ohio State, so i don't think they would be too excited about that matchup.
Good Luck in the tourney too, congrats.

Oh wow, do you know anything about college basketball? You might want to check the AP and Coaches Poll! As a top 25 ranked team, it would not hurt OSU to take a loss to Kent any more than it would to lose to UCLA, much less a loss to Michigan. A team it's not in the best interest of OSU to lose to would be Michigan. Their RPI went straight through the floor on the coattails of that recent Michigan loss.
The Big-Ten attitude is upsetting. Acting like Mid-Major teams aren't worth playing because they are bad losses is completely ignorant. There are hundreds of teams out there in weaker conferences that will hand most big-ten teams their butts on any given day.

You osu fans are so arrogant, smug, and delusional. Is there any wonder why everyone considers you a bunch of clowns? The original poster made a simple comment that playing osu would (be a good game to see). And then...WHAM - here comes your caustic responses. Wow, you should be proud of yourselves. What in the world does the Sears trophy have to do with playing a BB game with Kent? And a whole lot better judges of basketball talent than yourselves have them ranked in the Top 25. Where's osu? After your showing today against that powerhouse Minn. team, I would think you would cool your jets. But you won't. Enjoy the NIT.

Why was the Sears Cup brought into the conversation? Because of this quote from the origional poster:
"Just because you are in the Big-Ten doesn't mean you can really make fun of the MAC, you're forgetting that football is the only sport you can beat Kent in with any consistency"
Any sport other than football? I haven't seen Kent State ranked in the top ten lately in men's soccer, or men's volleyball, or wrestling, or fencing, or women's basketball, or ... For that matter, I haven't seen KSU in the top ten in men's basketball, either (and in case you forgot, OSU was #1 for a decent chunck of last season and played in the championship game - that's two wins further in the Tourney than KSU has ever been.) I have nothing against Kent State or other Ohio schools but that quote reeked of ignorance. Yes, Ohio State will play in the NIT this season (unless they choke out of that even) and yes, Kent State has been doing very well in men's basketball the last 8-10 years. That's great for them. But it doesn't justify a quote that football is the only sport in which Ohio State can dominate it's in-state brethren. It would justify a quote that Ohio State can't dominate other in-state schools in men's basketball year-in and year-out anymore, but that isn't exactly what he said, is it?

I'd like to see it. Kent would have a good shot at beating them. Especially this year. In fact, Kent, Akron, and MiamiOH would all have a good chance at beating Ohio State this year.

The bad thing is, Kent State lost to another no name team (Bowling Green).
That gives them a loss to Detroit, Bowling Green, Ohio, and Toledo.

Yep, that loss could keep them out of the big dance if they don't win the MAC tourney.

Yez Sirze, Kent St is the real deal. Next season they will play and hopefully Terrol Pryor will be on the team so he can be embarresed by a crap school like Kent St. Even then maybe Ohio U will also be the Buckeyes. Life is great, Now that Michigan finaly beat Ohio St at something the tides have turned for the way better. OSU can dig a grave and bring on the Ncaa Implications

You guys should come play Kent State next season, that or we could play you there. I think that a Big 10 matchup would be nice for a change! I agree Kballard122. That would have been a great game this year. Not sure why the Bucks don't schedule more in-state opponents in basketball. They would certainly be more competitive than the ones they schedule in football.

"so he can be embarresed by a crap school like Kent St." so my only question for you Drockabeeyatch is what school do you go to, or did you attend that is so high and mighty that you can consider us to be a crap school? From the looks of it, it's Michigan. Which may be a good school but I'm pretty sure Kent State would stomp them into the floor if they brought their B-ball team down to our "crappy school."
Anyways, from my office on the third floor of the PREMIER LIQUID CRYSTALS RESEARCH FACILITY ON EARTH here at KSU I encourage you to chuck your cellphone, laptop, lcd computer monitor, mp3 player, HDTV and anything else you might have with any liquid crystals in it, into the trash and then reflect on how much of your life is different and better thanks to this crappy school.
Now I realize you probably were just referring to a crap school as a non-high major school. But last I checked if you do go to Michigan, your baskeball program would hardly win a mid-major conference tournament, let alone the big ten. Unless you go back 20 years.
Michigan beating Ohio State was probably as much of a freak affair as us losing to Bowling Green last week.
So anyways on no level is this school crappy, you could call us not as good but you have no grounds to stand on and you probably knew next to nothing about KSU before the remark. Which would put you in "ignorant guy with giant ego," category. Non-typical of a U of M grad. Unless you go to U of M Dearborn. You know, they community college 30 minutes from campus that lets average students get the same degrees as the people who killed themselves to get accepted to U of M's main campus.
Sorry if this seems so over the top for such a small comment but it was kind of a negatious comment to begin with.

Drockabeeyatch didn't go to the U of M. No one who ever attended classes in Ann Arbor would put MSU as his favorite in anything. Which means he is just a typical Michigan bandwagoner. He jumps on UM for football, then rides MSU's coat tails for basketball. I live in Michigan so I see a lot of those types. Too bad he doesn't have what it takes to pick one school or the other and support them year round. Either way, he has no business talking crap about Kent State on the OSU board.
Just for the record, even if Pryor does come to Columbus, and even if he were to be "embarrassed by a crap school like Kent St." it wouldn't be as embarrassing as having 3 players opt out of 1st round NFL draft choices so they could come back for their senior seasons, start the year ranked #5 in the country, and then get beat at home by a team that isn't even a D-1a program.

Kballard,
Don't bother trying to argue with a Suckeye fan. They are never wrong, at least THEY think so. They know what MAC teams are capable of doing to them in basketball. Am a Bobcat alumni, and I know they have ducked us since we beat them in 1994. As for non-conf. schedule, outside of NC and Florida, what quality major conference teams have they played this season? They love the MAC in football, but fear us in b'ball. And of course, they would HAVE to have play at home, since they won't play a MAC team on the road. Or anywhere else in this state. This season should prove more than ever that the Suckeyes aren't the only game in this state, like they think they are.
Don't worry, though. At least they can watch the Flashes in the Dance as they will be home after losing in the first round of the Nobody's Interested T'ment.
Besides, how can you take anyone seriously that loses an exhibition game to Div. II Findlay?

Yes OSU knows what the MAc teams are capable of......OSU is 17-4 all time vs OU in hoops and 48-12 vs the MAC in hoops.
News flash OSU played Cleveland State this year in Cleveland and Cincy in Indy last year. Besides with all this crying bout where the games are played if the Big 10 teams went on the road in football and hoops on a regular basis it would end the big paydays the MAC teams get. You cant take you half out of the middle and want to play and home & have a big payday.
What is this talk about OSU's SOS when Ohio's is ugly?
What quality teams has OSU played this year? Did you watch any TV this year?

Most of us at "mid-major" schools don't watch a lot of TV, all they do is balloon the egos and quality of the Big Ten, SEC, A-10, etc. At least OSU isn't Duke or NC who could probably lose half of their conference games and still get an at-large over a good mid-major

Well, usually when Duke or NC loses half their conference games they still can beat a good mid-major. Even with a 8-8 record in t | |
