best: Vin Scully, Dick Enberg, Al Michaels and John Madden, Jim Nantz, Phil Simms, Troy Aikman, Bob Uecker, Johnny Miller, Bill Raftery
probably others I am forgetting right now. There are a lot of bad football broadcasters. Tony Kornheiser has no business being in the booth.
Worst: Brent Musberger and Bryant Gumbel set the bar for bad and many have followed.
Most of the cats at ESPN are truly annoying but I will make an exception for Tom Jackson...shame he doesn't do live in the booth. Both of the Sharpes are way annoying, as is Keyshawn Johnson, Jimmy Johnson...etc.
I could listen to Mike Ditka talk football FOREVER.

The only reason Kornhieser is in the booth is because MNF is trying to re-live the 70's with Howard Cossel. The only similarity is that they are both Jewish and they are both hated by some..... In Kornheiser's case, ALL.
Kornheiser reminds me of some washed up stand up who married into a family that owns a newspaper, and to make him seem respectable they give him a job as a sports writer.
He is the Freddo of the Sports News Business!!!!

I don't watch every sport to offer an opinion on them, but for the NFL and NBA, my picks are:
Best
NBA: Bill Walton - Says what he feels and doesn't apologise, yet at the same time, doesn't blatantly insult anyone. His "over your head" sarcasm is the best.
NFL: Phil Simms - Not only is he entertaining in his dry kind of way, but you learn a lot about the game during his commentary.
Worst
NBA: Have you EVER heard Walt "Clyde'" Frasier during a Knicks game?!?!?! The guy sounds like he swallowed a Thesaurus. You remember the school plays when you wrere in grade school; how the kids sounded lke they were reading off of a teleprompter that was too far away? That's Frasier.
NFL: That Kornhole guy on MNF. Here are three more letters; WTF!?
Worst regardless of sport
Dick Vitale: You SUCK BABEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

Listening to him on the NFL network this past year I would have to say Bryant Gumbel is the worse I've ever heard.

Dicky V was at a Devil Ray game in the restaurant and was choking on some food, probably because he couldn't shut up long enough to chew his food. Somebody did the heimlich maneuver on him and saved him. Too bad, huh? BABEEEEEEE!
Ok, I don't really want the guy to die, but you get the idea.

I love listening to Bill Walton. He's knows basketball and his humor is typical pot head. Dierdorf and McGuire are great for football.
The all-suck squad is lead by team captain Joe Buck with sidekicks Daryl "Mooseless" Johnston, Tim " captain condescending" McCarver and Dick Vitale who must wear depends because every time he talks it's like an excited old fart about to wet himself.

Skip Bayless's mindless brain.
How in the h*ll this man with no talent & absolutely no knowledge of any sport got the job that he has proves that America is a great country.
He's like having rabies, ringworm, poison oak & polyps in the anal cavity at the same time.
I'm sure that his parents tried to drown him in early childhood but somehow botched the job.
I'm also sure that he got the crap beat out of him by boys & girls in school just for the fun of it & why Stephen A. Smith never reached across the set & beat him senseless is unfathomable to me.
Aww, enough of hating on Skip, but just one more thing, anyone named Skip has to be so flipping gay that he over compensates on the show to prove that he's a "man,"

This is a slam dunk for worst ever, it's gotta be Joe Morgan. He has never said anything worth listening to.
Most biased could be Dick Stockton during the Celtics/Lakers rivalry in the 80's. As far as he was concerned the Lakers could do no wrong.
But it's not Dick Stockton........it's Tommy Heinson. Every Celtic fan that has ever watched a game knows that he's the biggest homer to ever speak into a microphone.

Some homer picks for the best. Dave Niehaus, the hall of famer, is great. in addition, he provides unintentional comedy with his tremendous home run calls for routine flyouts. "And he slides into second base standing up!"
Mike Rice(of the Blazers broadcast team) provides great analysis along with humor(i just love him complaining about the refs).
As for the worst, there are a few candidates: Steven A. Smith, Dick Vitale, Bryant Gumbel. but i believe the worst to be Joe Buck because he has called way too many important games(the Super Bowl, the World Series, and the marquee games in the nfc regular season) his call for any team winning a big game is "and the (fill in team) have done it" in a loud, annoying, monotonous voice.

The worst in baseball is Chris Berman. He is just so awful i cannot even explain it. He is so biased it is ridiculous. That would be fine if he was a Red Sox announcer but on a national level you are not supposed to show bias. The way he was crying in the booth when the White Sox knocked the red sox out in 2005 was so amateur.

The worst in baseball is Chris Berman. I have to agree with you on that one. What annoys me about him is his "Names" for players, most of the names have been sent in by fans. He dresses like he someone who lives in a mental facility. But the thing that annoys me the most about Boomer is that a real announcer gets bumped in important sports events, just so that he can yammer on and on about a sport he has no familiarity with. That just goes to show you the power of ESPN

I think the best baseball broadcaster is Ernie Harwell. He can keep the game interesting even if its a blowout. Golf is Johnny Miller because he always says whats on his mind.

Bryant Gumble by far is the worst. There is not even anyone close to him.
I don't understand the hatred towards Joe Buck. In my opinion his dryness makes him great. I like him with Troy Aikman. Maybe people are watching too many of his baseball games and hearing him w/ McCarver. No one that I saw mentioned Dan Schulman on ESPN college basketball. He needs to find a gig that doesn't include Vitale. If anyone has ever listened to Indiana Univ. basketball you might agree that Don Fisher is pretty good. The best ever is Marty Brenneman.
