Tell me, if you please, why you:

A) Have Xavier as a 2 seed? Seriously, you try to hard to get the mid-major represented.

B) Think UNC will win the ACC? In case you haven't noticed, they aren't exactly dominating teams. (Yeah I know all about the VT game, but that's VT.) And all this talk about "we beat Duke with our #3 PG" talk, what about Duke? They can safely say "We beat Tyler Hansbrough without a post presence." Notice how they don't bother to mention Zoubek? Or the fact that Maryland beat UNC when Lawson was healthy?

Sorry, I just don't see UNC winning the ACC tournament.

Most people have Xavier as a 2 seed at this point. Where have you been?

You are looking at this through d00k blue glasses, if you had been paying attention, the Heels are as hot as any team in the country right now, and are peaking at just the right time. When Carolina and d00k meet on 3/808, I will guarantee the Heels will win by double digits. If there is a team not built to make a deep postseason run, it's d00k. If you don't think so then why is k trying to force zoubek back into the lineup. d00k has been exposed and they will lose more games. Sorry, I just don't see d00k winning any tournament.

How about this for reasons Xavier is a 2 seed:

Xavier's RPI: 6

Most RPI Top 100 Wins:

UNC: 16

Xavier: 13

Duke: 13

Most RPI Top 50 Wins:

Texas: 9

Tennessee: 8

Xavier: 7

Xavier as a mid-major. Please. Have you read any article about "mid-majority" lately? Most intelligent sportswriters have agreed that teams like Memphis, Gonzaga, Xavier, are not mid-major due to consistent performance against "Big 6" teams and the relative amount of money the program brings in. Forbes even has Xavier as the 20th richest basketball program in the nation.

Take you Duke attitude and shove it.

Definitely agree.  Xavier is worthy of the #2 seed.  they can hang onto it by running the table during the regular season and not stumbling early in the A-10 tourney.

they could also lose AT St. Joe's, but win the A-10 tourney and still get  that #2 seed.  I think they are the real deal this year.

Correction about UNC.  They weren't dominating teams (close wins over Clemson, VA).  But, once they adjusted to not having Lawson, they have won convincingly.  No other top 10 team has been any more convincing in their wins over the last two weeks.

Plus, they are in the lead of the conference with the top RPI and have 2 more wins than the "number 1" team in the country (TN will lose to Vandy tonight).

And yes Dook has been dominating with two losses in four days.

UNC's convincing wins have come against weak opposition.  Virginia (RPI 121), Virginia Tech (RPI 64) & NC State (RPI 74).  They've done a good job holding it together with Lawson out, gutting out close wins against Clemson & Virginia, and the extra depth they've developed will help them once Lawson's back.  I do worry about how long he's been out of the lineup, though.

Look, if you watch Carolina they look great.  But Carolina is one of the least tested top teams in the nation -- they've played virtually no sweet 16 quality teams, so it's hard to know if they look great because they are great, or because you're watching them play against a weak team.  Their only game against an RPI top 20 team is against Duke, and they lost at home.  People complain about Memphis' schedule, and they're 3-1 against top 20 RPI teams (Connecticut, Georgetown, Arizona, Tennessee).

For UNC to get a #1 seed, they need to beat Duke twice.  That's certainly possible, especially since Tyler Hansbrough will likely go for 30 and 15 both times against Duke's small lineup.  On the flip side, Duke only has to get hot from the outside in one of those games to get a #1 seed.  If Duke gets upset before the ACC tourney finals, that's bad news for both Duke and Carolina, as it gives other teams a chance to elbow their way ahead of Carolina to a #1 seed with convincing wins in their conference tourney.

Mr. Bronxzoo

Please dont insult the college basketball community and disrespect Xavier. Xavier is a breath of fresh air. Xavier is not a fly by night team. Last year they were one bad call away from beating Ohio State, and 3 years ago they almost beat Duke in the Sweet 16.

Go Xavier!

oh btw... the original poster mentioned BRIAN ZOUBEK. brian zoubek is HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE. there is no doubt in my mind not having him helps out the dook team by allowing them to open up the offense and making them much faster.

Also Xavier is no a team who is just gonna go away,  if a ref knew that throwing a player into the bascket was a technical foul then Xavier would have beaten Ohio State

Very true, except that Xavier team was playing Duke for a Final Four spot, and this year's team is a hell of a lot more talented than the 03-04 team.

Xavier is no doubt  a 2 seed...... they beat Indiana by 15.......beat  recently ranked Kent State by 13.....beat Kansas State by 26 and held Michael Beasley to 5 points.....  beat Virginia by 28...... beat a very good Dayton team twice ( once by 26)  and are 6th in RPI

I dont see how (if they win out in the reguler season or maybe a loss at st. joes and win the A-10 tourney) they can't be a 2 seed.......They are absolutely a darkhorse for the Final Four....

XU is overrated yes they beat indiana and yes they beat k-state. nothing else counts to be honest. virginia cant buy a win in the acc. kent state is kent state. dayton had injuries both times XU played them sooo.... i dont see where they fall in as a 2 seed. i would say 3 or 4 b/c they will purposefully lose the a-10 tourney to make sure their conference is represented properly. (just joking about losing the a-10 tourney)

Carolina will be a 1 seed with or without Lawson.. they can play with both Q and Lawson.. they will be a solid 1-2 punch come march.
