Who do you all want to start at QB next year, and why?

i'm more like undecided... but i lean towards Johnson... from the few times i saw him play this season he looked great and definitely good enough to be the starter

on the other hand McGee was inconsistent at times and made some bad decisions on top of that

with some game experience...  Johnson will be the next great thing at A&M

With Sherman and a new offense, I would not name a starting QB and have every QB on the team compete for it.  I think McGee has the head to pick up the offense and be effective.  But I am not sure Johnson does.

McGee. Game experience, runs the option well, tough, motivational leader. He's got everything we want and need, why should he sit out? If JJ is athletic enough he should play WR. That's just my opinion, but why shouldn't Sherman at least try it?

McGee. He has game experience.

I think he is a good qb. He had an injured shoulder last season which he played through. Also, there was bad play calling, problems with the o-line, and his wide recieving core didn't get open. I can't tell you how many times I was watching the game and the broadcasters would show us Mcgee's view of the field and how nobody was open. We got coverage sacked a lot.

Johnson can wait another year, McGee is a senior and a leader.

I voted for McGee... Sherman has been quoted as saying that McGee is the starter....

A better question would be... Who takes over after McGee graduates???

Johnson

Tannehill

Dorman

Or Shepard who Sherman is recruiting hard & has been quoted by Shepard on Rivals as saying that if he went to A&M, Sherman would give him the shot to start RIGHT AWAY....

The battle for the QB throne after McGee Grads is going to be an interesting thing to watch.

Especially if JJ or Ryan don't win it. Both played WR in high school & one or both could easily be moved to WR if Dorman or Shepard win the starting job after McGee grads....

The thing is with JJ, Ryan & Shepard, all 3 are such AWESOME talents, that to keep them all off the field when it's obvious what they can bring to the team as a WR, would just be dumb.

Also... lets not forget that A&M has also offered Garrett Gilbert (5 Star Pro Style QB) out of Austin TX in the class of 2009. If Shepard commits, then Gilbert is out & if Gilbert commits, then Shepard is out & also either Ryan or JJ will almost be certainly moved to WR.

People don't like to think of JJ moving to WR because they are in love with the whole possibility of him being the next Vince Young but for A&M....

As great as that would be, I think people need to remember that many teams have been successful before & after VY with different kinds of QB's....

Also having a WR with JJ's talents to compliment Jeff Fuller at WR along with the rest of the WR's we already have at the position could be a huge PLUS for A&M... Especially since teams will be forced to respect Mike, Lane & McGee and their rushing ability.

Gilbert has already committed to Texas and most players who do that so early tend to stick to it. Shepard has already come out and said Michigan is his #1 school right now but after Junior Day at A&M last weekend I'd say we are right there with him.

As for current QB, I think McGee should start with Johnson seeing some minimal time as a change of pace QB. Not in the 4th quarter or anything, but when we can afford to do so. Johnson so far defenitely looks like McGee's predecesor and Dorman will most likely be redshirted this year with so many options at QB for us.

I agree with Texas_Aggies#1, McGee is probably one of the better leaders I have every seen on the field.  He is good at the option (still makes a few mistakes though), really tough and has game experience.  Lets not forget he does have an arm we just need to find a way to use it.  If we can find some fast WR with good hands next year I think we will be okay if not, it will not matter who is our QB.  We will not be throwing the ball much.

With that said I think Sherman needs to go into spring drills and let the two players decide who should start.  Who ever preforms the best should get the start.

McGee should be the starter, hands-down. The guy has more heart than anyone on our team, and prob more than 90% of the players that have ever stepped onto the field. He has proven that he can lead the team down the field in the 4th (would've done it against PSU had it not been for penalties).

I still firmly believe that he would be a very prolific passer had he not been thrown into Fran's crap-tastic offense. He's still quite capable of doing it under Sherman. He'll be at a bit of a disadvantage because he just under-went surgery, and will prob miss most of the off-season. Hopefuly he can finish out his Sr year, and leave Johnson with a great platform to build on.

Johnson has the potential to be one of the best QBs in the HISTORY of CFB, but I wanna to see him start his Jr year. No chance for injury while the team is re-building and learning a new offense. Let's be real
