Well it is a move they need to make, but with their history with free agency, I'll have to wait until the regular season to see if it was a good one.
Now, for the other part of this deal....
Jason Taylor costs 10 mil vs. the cap this year (8 mil salary and roster bonus, 2 mil signing bonus pro-rated).
As of mid-june, the Skins had 7-8 or so million of cap space (not a number shown by the NFL officially, but looking at a couple of good skins cap sites, they seem to be rather close).
This was before signing any of their rookies too.
I am wondering if they will need to be making further moves to make this work, or if they are doing a sign and trade deal that gives him a bigger bonus, and drops his cap hit for this year (basically backload it with a big signing bonus, something the Redskins do a lot). With the sign and trade though, Miami could be forced to take the bigger cap hit.
