Eli or Rivers

i would still take rivers over eli, i mean eli didnt lead the Giants to the super bowl, it was more the giants defense played so well. and Philip Rivers showed guts when he played in the afc championship game despite his injury

I hafta agree with LTowns. SHEli didn't do much. The Giants defense won that game. He was the qb of a team that had a run of good luck in the playoffs. I bet you think the Giants are a better team than the Patriots too?

The Fran Tarkenton escape and clanker to David Tyree was the flukiest pass in SB history.

Tyree making the catch falling backwards and securing the ball against his helmet. Are you going to claim the actually practice that?

Nate Kaeding may not go to the HOF but he's one of the better kickers in this era. How many kickers are actually IN the HOF? 3-4?

The Shawne Merriman issue is such OLD news.

I would take Philip Rivers over Eli Manning in a New York minute...Not even close pal.

Remember Jim McMahon of the Bears? Punkie kind of QB. That is the kind spunk Philip Rivers shows. If ya don't like it...Don't watch.  

Bronco fan here. Sorry, just had to put some input in on this one.

Eli Manning did put up a heroic effort throughout the playoffs last year, but I remember watching games before that where he just looked scared to death. Every single throw made you want to cringe, and he just looked so damn confused out there. Jake Plummer esque without the mobility. I just don't think all that can change in a couple of games.

I'm not going to pretend to like Phillip Rivers...IMO he's an average QB with a big mouth. (could be a little biased...) I think him and Eli are close when you factor in talent, leadership, the ability to stay cool under pressure, and their supporting casts.

What really makes this trade one-sided is Shawne Merriman. Steroids or not, the guy scares me when he lines up on the field. He could be in the HOF some day if he lives up to his full potential.

Factor in a decent kicker in Kaeding, and I think we all know the Chargers got the better end of this deal.
