What's everyone thinking for the rest of this 4th of July week for the Yankees as they square off against Texas and Boston? I think we should be able to take the final two from Texas. Milwood is bad in his career vs. the Yankees, and we have Joba who has been brilliant and seems to improve with every start. Tomorrow,  I think we should be able to take the series. Ponson was able to outduel Pedro Martinez and shut down the Mets last Friday night. He should be fired up to face Texas, who cut him this season. Rangers are sending out Luis Mendoza, some unknown who doesn't appear to be very good. I say we take 2 of 3.

Now for the 4 game set vs. Boston. Game 1 is Jon Lester vs. Andy Pettite. Lester has had just one career start against NY, and it was dreadful. However, he has been solid this year for Boston. But we counter with Pettite, one of baseball's hottest pitchers who usually pitches well when the Red Sox come around. I think we can win game 1. I don't want to watch game 2, as I fear once again the Yankees will lose on the 4th. Boston is sending out Beckett, who we sometimes can handle, but we send out Darrell Rasner, and after the Red Sox whoop his ass he could be headed back to the minors or the bullpen. This won't be pretty. Game 3 is the Red Sox rookie Masterson vs. Mussina. This guy is pretty unproven and Mussina got a tough luck loss last night as he gave a quality start. Advantage Yankees. Game 4 will be Joba vs. Wakefield. The Yankees fare well usually against the knuckleballer, and we have Joba who is pitching very well. I give the Yankees the edge. I may be wrong on one of the three game I predicted the Yankees would win, but we could take 3 of 4 from Boston. That would be huge. A split would be okay but doesn't do anything for us in the standings. 3 of 4 is huge.
