I'm as loyal a fan as you'll find anywhere, but tonight's game has me wondering if I should start reading the tea leaves. All season long I've said that the Rox are still in it and they are. But it may be time to acknowledge that it just isn't going to happen this year. Tonight's atrocity was completely inexcusable. To lead by 5 halfway through the game and to go down by 7 in the end...wow, the Rox really are bad. They made a complete mockery of the game of baseball tonight and should be ashamed to ever set foot on a ball diamond again. Oh and all this against a team that was on an 8 game slide and just as bad or worse than the Rox in every statistical category associated with the game.
All that said, being the glutton for punishment that I am, I'll be back for more tomorrow night. I don't know why I do this to myself. Man, I sure hope the Broncos are good again this year!
Thanks for listening to my lamenting. Go Rockies!

"Broncos are good again"
Where were you this fall? The Broncos sucked last season and it is yet to be seen if they have done anything to do better this year as the AFC West should be improving.
I thought the Rockies would at least be competitive this year after a world series berth. But this pitching is unbelievably bad. Cook is the only one who can send it to the late innings with a lead and even then we are holding our breath for the relief to not blow it. Things have to turn around quick otherwise it is over. A run at the end of the season like last years streak is just unrealistic, especially with what I have seen so far.
Our four major sports are not looking good right now.
1. Broncos have a lot to prove after last years roller coaster season
2. The Rockies looked to be on the upswing and now they lose 8 in a row to head back to the bottom of the division
3. The Nuggets trade away their first round draft pick apparently satisfied with another first round playoff exit. I understand that it frees up some cap space but we could have found someone with potential. Unless we get some trade rumors brewing it is another first round exit. A big name center down low is obviously the key to winning the championship. If it is Melo that has to go to get one so be it.
4. Sakic is hinting at retirement which is sad for everyone to hear because he is the man!
I love all these teams and it hurts to see them fail! 3 of the 4 have been swept in the playoffs the last 9 months. The other missed the playoffs for the second straight year. I hope all of them can turn things around.
Lets go Rox, Broncos,Avs and Nugs!!!

I understand your frustration, just remember that every year it is pretty much a guarantee tha every team is going to win 60 games and lose 60 games, what makes the season is what they do with the rest of the games. I am hoping that this streak that the Rockies are in is part of those 60 losses. I am not able to watch any of these games on tv, so I don't know what happened to Fuentes tonight, but it definitely doesn't appear to be a typical Fuentes night on paper. If he doesn't start pulling things back together soon, he will be going back to the setup role. Unfortunately, I feel that the setup role is where he shines the best.
I also hope that the Broncos will be back to their winning ways again this coming season as well.

"Good again" as in a return to being good after two seasons of being bad...Sorry for the confusion.

I have to disagree with one thing you said, that was a typical Fuentes night.
You were fortunate not to have access to a TV, this was putrid. The only other loss that comes close is the fiasco in Chicago where we blew a 9-1 lead with Cook going. They need to bite the bullett and make Bucholz the closer, he has been the best one consistently, make Fuentes a left handed specialist and get Corpas back in the mix.
Watch tomorrow, we will probably get good pitching and the hitters will suck.

Hey man i'll be there with ya rootin on the Rocks tomorrow...but it is gettin sad. Our offense is almost as un-reliable as our pitching. I see some serious moves bein made here by the end of July. Does anyone see Bucholtz closing?
