Good post sportsguypq. I like your ideas. Let me throw in my 2 cents for what its worth.

Oufield: Your right on. We should keep Jody Gerut, Brian Giles and Chase Headley. Lets get rid of Paul McAnulty and Justin Huber. I want to keep Scott Hairston though. He's got baseball in his blood and can really turn things around any day.

Infield: I'm almost there with you except for the Kouz thing. I think we should trade Kevin off for some more help in the outfield if injuries occur. I want us to keep Khalil Greene, Luke Carlin, Edgar Gonzalez, Adrian Gonzalez and Craig Stansburry. I think by trading off Tadihito Iguchi, Tony Clark, Michael Barrett and Josh Bard we'll save money and help build up our team.

Pitching: This one is tough for me so here I go. Keep Jake Peavy, Josh Banks, Heath Bell, Cha Seung Baek, Bryan Corey, Justin Hampson, Brett Tomko, Trevor Hoffman (HE HAS TO RETIRE A PADRE!), Tim Stauffer, Carlos Guevara and Sean Estes. We need to do a shake up so lets move out: Chris Young, Greg Maddux (I really love seeing him in a Padres uniform), Mark Prior (if anyone will take him), Mike Adams, Randy Wolf, and Cla Merideth (PLEASE!!).

Call me crazy but I think this works a little better.

I don't see the need to keep Giles in the outfield. The Padres are wanting to go young and Giles doesn't fit into Petco, sure he is having a decent year but you need either more power or more speed from the right field position, to me, right now he can get you some good prospects by the trading deadline.

Kevin Towers this morning on 1090 essentially said he would entertain offers for Khalil Greene, saying having the good defense is nice, but they need to get more offense than he is providing. He still has value and I say lets see what we can get for him. Maybe a SS in return with a little speed.

Catcher needs to be totally revamped, get both guys out and get a legit guy in there for 09. There are a lot of holes, but with guys like Gonzalez, Kouz, Headley, Peavy, Young, etc... there are a lot of good core players in San Diego. The front office just needs to make the right moves in the next month to recover for 09.
