Honestly, I'm probably not even going to watch tomorrow's game. I'm disgusted.

I didn't get to watch the whole game, but I sorta watched from like the sixth on and did manage to see the home run Sherrill gave up. It's so easy to think that the bottom is going to completely fall out like in past years any time now at this point and that includes me. We've played well, but there's still this uneasy feeling like "Okay, what's the punchline this year and when is it coming?" I hope it doesn't come though, I really do. Our play has been so encouraging up to this point and it would break my heart to see another mid-late season collapse after exceeding expectations early yet again. This team is definitely different this year though and maybe the uneasy stuff is from past years only, but we are now finding ways to lose close games instead of win them. Hopefully, this trend turns around soon.

And how many posts have I seen about "please dont trade Sherrill :) Its reasons like this we need to trade these players to get younger and better. I'm not basing this opinion on the past two games. Every pitcher goes through it. I think early in the year K-rod blew 2 or 3 straight games. Its just something they go through.
HOWEVER, a real closer that has an 0 - 2 on a batter does not throw a wussy hanging slider. They reach back and throw the heat!! Sherrill is not a true closer. Yes he has been a pleasant surprise this year, and he's play WAY above his norm.
Like I've said before...................dont fall in love with this roster.................fall in love with what they are doing.

Guys (and Gals possibly), I think that it is a little too early to start crying foul. Sure, the last two games have had miserable endings, but the law of averages would deem that we would start losing the close ones. So far this year the O's have come from behind to win from a two or more run deficit on double digit occasions and our 1 run game record is still very good. We've gotten some good breaks so far this season, so we're bound to run into some bad breaks eventually. I think that Georgie should get some time off and that we should let JJ or Cormier get a few save opportunities. Sherill has already almost reached his career high in innings pitched and July just began. I think he's just tired, and there is no real reason for him to risk injury. The man could use a little vacation, I think he's earned it.
I know that we're all excited about this years surprising team, but we have to be realistic, we're not playing in the NL West. This is the AL East, where there are three teams who are legit World Series contenders. Nobody in the lineup is batting .300 and we will likely not have a guy win 15 games all season. So far we've played above our potential and a falloff should be expected. Realistically, I hope for 75-80 wins this season with a good amount of confidence and charisma going into next season so that we can possibly land a good free agent or two and our studs in the minors (Weiters, Arrieta and Tillman) can possibly get a look or two this September.

Skeeters,
Again, right there with ya!
Like I've said before...................dont fall in love with this roster.................fall in love with what they are doing.
This year's team reminds me a lot of the 1989 team. For those who are too young to remember the 1989 team was the "Why Not?" team that astonished baseball for a few months by pursuing the AL East title one year after going 54-107, an infamous season that began with 0-21. The '89 team finished in 2nd place, 87-75, and it went down to the last series of the year against Toronto. They were 6.5 games ahead at the break, but then went 2 - 13 right after the AS break.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1989_Baltimore_Orioles_sea son
The next year they went 76-85 because they did not have any future plans and just went with the team they had. I think we all agree that, like the 1989 team, this team is overachieving. Unlike 1989-1990, we have a GM in Andy MacPhail that has a plan for this club. Let's continue to support the team this year, no matter what happens, but let's stick to the "plan".

These are the kind of games that should make AM say, "It is time to trade our veterans". We have to believe that Millar, Payton, Bradford, Sherrill, Cabrera, and Mora are going to be able to bring back 1-3 prospects each. Mora isnt getting any younger, and his age is finally getting to him. No everyday 3B should be hitting .300. Cabrera keeps reminding me of his old self, and I say, deal him. We all were too quick to jump on the Cabrera bandwagon and say that he "turned the corner". Bradford is a quality reliever for whom we could easily get 2 prospects out of any contending team. Sherrill is a guy that could bring in 3 prospects easily. If we dont trade Sherrill, then I see him as more of a 7th inning guy, with Johnson and Ray battling for the closer's role. Millar is a great clubhouse guy, and I think he plays pretty good defense, but the hitting just isnt there. All he can do is pull the ball, and on a very rare occasion he'll hit a bloop into right center field. Teams figure these things out, which is affecting his hitting. Finally, Payton has a chance to bring in 2 prospects, especially the way he's been hitting this season. Now, some people say to trade Huff. I say why should we? He's a good hitter, he's still in his low 30's, plus he can play 3B, 1B, DH, and LF. If, and I mean if, we bring in Tex next season, we can use Huff as our everyday DH. Or if Tex needs a day off, we can put him at 1B. Imagine next year's lineup: Roberts, Jones, Markakis, Tex, Weiters, Huff, Scott, Moore, SS (possibly Felipe Lopez). If we can grab Lopez and Tex, we will have a contending lineup next season. Not to mention the additions of Tillman, Arrieta, and posibly Patton. Plus, we get Ray, Albers, Bierd, etc. back in the BP. If all the pieces fall together, we could be contenders next season.
