The local TV affiliate for UH sports is an estimated 2 years away from broadcasting Warrior football games in HD.....yet the local cable network will offer High School games in HD.  Something is not right here.  Does anyone have any insight or comment about this?

Sounds like Oceanic Cable gets a healthier cut of the revenue from every cable customer  than the TV station gets from its advertisers.  But then one's a defacto monopoly with the FCC preventing the state from imposing rate regulation on anything other than basic service and the other has significant competition for revenues - including from Oceanic's own channels.

thacommishmiked,

OCEANIC Cable SUCKS!    Always has, always will.

My Advice:   Go get DISH or Direct TV

It is cheaper, faster, you get more for less like NFL Channel on the basic package

Overall, Mo Bettah

Hey Yoko...

I used to have Dish, but besides getting so many "No Signals" in the middle of watching a program... their customer service sucks big time.  They disconnected a premium service they shouldn't have, and she insisted that I had to pay installation charge to have it reconnected.  What the...???  I even told her to check the recording on what I had requested (assuming my original conversation with the other svc rep was recorded), but said she can't do that.  So, after a very heated argument, I asked her "So, you're telling me that your company is always right and the customer is always wrong?"  She replied, "Yes, ma'm."  Needless to say, I was livid...wrote a complaint letter to the CEO...received no response or apology.  So now I'm back on cable who's much more expensive and have only now put ESPNU on the lineup, but what the heck...the people here have always been considerate and helpful.  Anyways, I'd miss Oceanic's OC-16 which televises the high school sports.

OK...got that off my chest and feel much bettah now (lol).   Thanx for listening...

RedRaider, sorry to hear that you have had such rotten service; I would have cancelled too.

It sounds like they do not give a hair on a rat's a** about the market where you are living.

I've had good service from them, they always come a running and make things right.

The service people call me and always ask what they can do to make it (service) better.

Once in awhile I'll still get a sales call to get DISH and I'll just defer.

I cannot blame you for going with Oceanic, but it seems to me that Oceanic has a monoploy and when I used them I didn't get that great of-service on their calls.

Even though the storms will occasionally stop the Dish reception it comes back on immediately with the new system.   When the electricity is out (which is often here in Central FL)   the only ones that have TV are those with DIRECTV or DISH like me.

Cable or Dish: At least it beats waiting a week for programs like we used to in the old days, and waiting for one month in the real old days, OUCH!

Sorry again, I didn't mean to bring up your age tutu wahine, Lol Yoko.

Yoko...aka tutu kane...thanx for your sympathy.  Just my luck I had to get a grouch with an attitude.  Glad you're getting good service from them.  I'll just stick to Oceanic's monopoly...sigh.  Anyway, just renewed my PPV season pass with them.  Speaking of the real old days, I can vaguely remember my older siblings yelling at each other, "Ay, no foget to shoot down the antenna (we had lots of salt winds).  OK...move the antenna to the left...little bit more...ok, now to the right...stop...the tv stay cleah now."  LMAO.  Yikes!  I feel like a dinosaur.  Ahhh...the good ole days.  No pollution...bikes or footmobile as our mode of transportation...cheap gas...no message boards...
