It looks as if the Penguins may lose 3 quality players to Free Agency yet when you look at the way the team is built they still look like a Cup contender for the next several seasons. Although I'd love to see all 3 guys(Hossa, Orpik, & Malone) stay in Pittsburgh, but if there's only one of them they can keep it should be Malone. He's one of those guys that goes in & does the blue collar stuff that is sometimes overlooked. Worst case is that all 3 go away & the poor Pens will have to make do with Sid the Kid, Malkin, Fleury, et al..... It's Great to be a Pens fan.... Can't wait till we start it up again!!!

I like Malone but I do think he was a product of playing on a line with Malkin. I think I could have a 20 goal season if I was on a line centered by Malkin. Remeber how everyone was extremely critical of him when he was playing poorly and not to expectations the previous 2 years? Malone is worth 3million a year and some team will certainly overpay. I'm also not sure why Wes says Hossa has priced himself out of the Penguins range. The Penguins are still the front-runner to resign him so I really wish some journalists would do some research before posting their opinions.

Malone may be one of the players who does the unnoticed thing for his team, but Hossa does both.  He goes out and makes the plays that leave us in awe and the plays that no one thinks is doing anything on the ice.  He is an offensive power not to mention one hell of a defenseman.  I'd take Hossa over Malone any day

If the Penquins are the front runners to sign him then the deal would be done by July 1. I don't think Pitt will sign him. He gonna test the free agent market. Maybe he does'nt like living in Pittsburgh. Just because someone says they offered him 7.7 million does'nt mean its true. Its called a rumor. Just my opinion on the whole thing

I get what you're saying, but keeping Hossa wouldn't be such a bad route either. He's a talented scorer and his "compatibility" with Crosby is only going to get better the longer he plays on the same line as him. Though probably pretty unlikely, I would like to see Hossa stay along with Malone and Orpik, but if I had to pick only one, I would say Hossa.

It is funny how over rated people view Malone.  Malone is not even a 30 goal scorer.  He played half the year with Crosby and the other half of the season he was with Malkin.  Malone gets garbage goals, and that is about it.  Some team like the Lightning will over pay for his services.  Malone will be missed by some of the fans in Pittsburgh...  HE IS NOT A KEVIN STEVENS, OR A RICK TOCCHET.
