How nice of Bob to deign to stay. Look people: he's been at Davidson since the Earth began cooling; he wasn't going anywhere. Nobody else would hire him, for a lot of reasons (all technical, I hear he's a great person), but first and foremost because what he has at Davidson is one-of-a-kind and it wouldn't travel well. No other program would have let him sign Dell Curry's one-trick kid, and few programs would put up with an offense that shoots 40 3's a game. Duke already has a coach, anyway.

"Duke already has a coach". In person true, but in knowing basketball, false.

Ah, the bitter Tar Hole who's own team nearly got clipped by Davidson in the regular season, and who dearly wishes that Davidson had beaten Kansas. That total smack-down you took from The Jayhawks still giving you indigestion? 30,000-plus students at Carolina and you're taking time to criticize a program with a student body that's roughly 5% that size?
Maybe McKillop is in the only place he could be this successful, but he has these things over Roy Williams:
- He built a program from the ground-up. He didn't stroll into cushy corporations at Kansas and Chapel Hill, with endless budgets and a ton of alumni. Roy's only title was with Matt Doherty's team. Remember him, Hole? The brother you guys threw under the bus...and then backed over just to be sure.
- He didn't pass over the "one-trick kid" who was torching some of the best teams in the nation for 30-40 a game. I'll tell you this much; Curry would have gone higher in this year's draft than either Lawson or Ellington. I won't even get into the intricacies of "Scared-to-Go-Pro" Hansbrough.
The guy has built a very nice program in a competitive conference without all of the advantages of big-time programs. 1,700 students at Davidson, that's it. His kids graduate and they handle themselves with a lot of class on the floor. Sounds like you have a little case of envy, because your guys underachieved and then everyone tried to bolt town.
As for your crack on Duke, the threes they shoot aren't the only threes of note. There are three National Championship banners hanging at one end of Cameron. And K did it all with his own players.
Rage on, Hole, rage on.

Because apparetly you forgot you beat Davidson by 6, we beat them by 4, whew glad you were able to demolish them.
And as for the own players comment, glad that is the only thing you can say about our program.

No, I didn't forget that we only beat them by 6, rube. That's why I'm not over here trying to diminish their accomplishments or cast dispersions on their coach. See, that's the thing about Holes, you guys can't simply live off your own program's success. You have to tear someone else down in the process. I suppose you can't feel big enough unless someone else is smaller.
The players comment isn't the only thing I said. There was plenty there: How you guys grossly underachieved again last season. How 30% of your roster tried to get out of town. How Curry was held in higher regard than Lawson or Ellington by draft analysts.
And there's more I could've said: How Lawson publicly spoke about the rude treatment he got from the fair-weather fans who call themselves Tarheels. How Ellington got thrown under the bus by Williams. What was Roy's comment? "Players have to be able to do more than shoot." Some good chemistry going on there in Hole land.
Interesting that you only came to bash what I said instead of chiding your fellow Hole for making unjust comments about McKillop and Davidson. Holes of a feather, I suppose.

The word is that McKillop has been approached many times about leaving Davidson, and while he has talked with prospective schools, he has never jumped. The scariest chance happened a few years ago when the St. John's job was up. Mike Jarvis was waffling and McKillop was reportedly about an hour away from getting an offer. All of Davidson whispered a sigh of relief when that news came.
Look, McKillop is a great coach. Talk to people who know the game. He is coaching the Team USA 18 U18 this summer with Coach John Thompson III as his assistant. Before anyone makes the cut that the only reason he this was because of his performance his year, he was offered the position before his tournament run. Look, the guy has a great resume. He has put forward three undefeated conference seasons during his tenure as coach including the past one. When asked earlier this year if I had a choice, would I have wanted Davidson to go on this run if it meant losing Steph Curry to the draft, I responded that I absolutely would have (I am very happy that we did not lose Curry). I also said, I would have chosen not to go on the run if it meant losing Coach McKillop to another school. He is the irreplaceable part in the Davidson system and Davidson fans everywhere fret about the day he leaves.
