This post goes back to last offseason. Many people are pissed at how conservative he has been. But he has had good reasons for not making deals. Heres why he didnt trade for Kobe Gasol or Garnett.
Kobe Bryant-Trade actually was close. Lakers would have taken Heinrich Gordon and Deng for him. Buuuuut Kobe had a no trade clause and said he would not go to Chicago without Deng there. Also, Do you really want to Give away Basically our whole team at the time, To basically become the new lakers? (the team that always made the 8th seed with only Kobe as the offense, and alwways lost there).
Kevin Garnett- Well, for some reason, The T-Wolves didnt want our players. They would have made a deal if it included Deng. But you have to remember, at the time Deng was thought of as a rising star in the league. Do you really trade a 20 year old rising star, along with a bunch of other talent on your team, for an Old man with probably 3 great years left in him? no.
Pau Gasol- This one is perplexing. I think the Bulls Definetly could have made this deal. But Pax didnt want to. I think in the end he made the right decision, because if we did have Gasol, we probably wouldnt have gotten the 1st pick in the draft (though that was all luck). Also, after REALLY watching Gasol in the Playoffs and finals, He seemed VERY soft and a tad bit over rated.
Then Comes this offseason. Listen, he is going to make a deal, he has said he has to because of the Guard Build up. I also dont think he is just going to let Gordon walk without at lesat a sign and trade, that isunless he manages to trade Heinrich.
He is simply waiting for the right deal to come. Give Pax some credit.
