By the looks of this kid, you can't help but be impressed with his physical stature, but the first thing Kersey needs to do is go down a size in shoulder pads as this appears to be a hindrance to his mobility as both a wide receiver and safety. He is big, he is somewhat physical and he can run. He has long arms and athletic skills for the position. He has an above average release, but does struggle to separate off the line of scrimmage vs. physical press corners. He has deceptive downfield speed when getting separation. He is at his best on deep take-off, post and underneath crossing routes. He has shown the courage to go over the middle and make tough catches in a crowd. He is an above average route runner that has some stiffness in his cutting ability, but can accelerate and shows burst off the cut. He has above average catching/ball skills. He can extend and adjust outside his frame. He has some run after catch ability, but does struggle in his stop and go movements. Defensively, he certainly looks like a safety and can be a physical presence, but doesn't always insert himself like you would like. Plays the high point and is not generally the first to attack the run from his position. The issue with Kersey is that you feel a bit teased by his athletic and physical traits, but we question how good a football player he is at this stage. He needs to develop and become more consistent as a prospect and playmaker. Overall, Kersey has speed and size which makes him attractive and he certainly has ability to develop into a fine college prospect.
