Based on what I've seen so far in the CWS, tomorrow's game will be decided by 3 facets.

1.  Innings 1-3.  Fresno State truggles the first time through the lineup as they get acclimated to a new pitcher.  They need their starting pitcher to keep them in striking distance (not necessarily in the lead) until the 4th or 5th inning.  If Fresno goes into the 5th inning within a run or two, Georgia is in trouble.

2.  Innings 4-6.  Georgia would actually benefit from CHANGING pitchers in the middle innings.  Fresno is great at adjusting.  If Georgia wants to have a lead to give to their closer, they need to give Fresno's offense a variety of looks by going to their middle relievers.  If Georgia can make Fresno State bat in the 7th inning while behind in the game, they're going to press.

3.  Innings 7-9.  The bullpens.  I see Georgia bringing their closer in for the 8th and 9th inning.  If Fresno State is leading by anything less than 4 going into the 8th, I see Georgia getting to the Fresno State bullpen.

All the pressure is on Georgia right now.  And I see Fresno State keeping the Georgia offense relatively in check.  Fresno State 9, Georgia 5.

I just don't know what to make of my beloved Dogs, Fresno that is. I have seen them beat up on teams that had good pitching, ( Rice &  North Carolina ), and I have seen them beat up teams that had good hitting ( Arizona State ). It certainly has been an absolutely amazing run of fun for Fresno. I thought it was a mistake to bring in Burke in yesterdays game after the previous pitcher had only one man on first. He should have let him go a little furthur on. Burke had been pitching quite a bit. Well here's hoping for a first ever mens championship for the Fresno State Bulldogs.

I am a HUGE Georgia football fan, don't get into baseball that much, but decided to watch last night. Congrats to Fresno State for forcing a game 3.

The only thing I thought about the game last night was the home plate umpire's strike zone was horrible. Correct me if someone saw something else. I saw pitches that were strikes in the bigs called balls for both teams, I hope that clown isnt behind the plate tonight.

The rally killer for Georgia was when they tied it back up at 6 and had 2 runners on with 1 out and on a full count the ball was low AND a bit inside and called it strike three and doubled up on Gordan taking third. That did not decide the game, no, but... who knows maybe Georgia could have put up 6 runs in an inning like Fresno did.

Thoughts......

The 4-3 defense (4 infielders-3 outfielders) Georgia used clearly didn't work against Fresno.  They should switch to the 3-4 with hopes of shutting down that offense!!!!  LOL

I agree....that call was horrible and in College baseball momentum is much more important than MLB. If Georgia scores 3 or 4 there who knows how that game goes. It would have probably been a 14-13 game with either team being the winner!!!!

Taking away the runaway score that followed, I agree that the home plate umpire's missed call for a strike was egregious, and had far-reaching effects.  Not only did it kill a promising rally---UGA should have had the bases loaded and one out---it kept the momentum on the Fresno state side.  The other terrible call made by the first base umpire of a catch by the first baseman on a groundball was shown by ESPN to be a blown call, even as the umpire is chastising coach Perno about not being able to see the play and that he had made the correct call.  Those two calls leave you wondering how well tonight's game is going to be called.  I guess you could say the same thing about the call on Beckham's attempted double play---looked to me like he simply dropped the ball instead of trying to throw to first.  In any case, it should be a great game between two gamer teams.  I see another high-scoring game, a la 14-13, because neither teams' pitching seems to be able to shut down the other teams hitting.  Go Dawgs!

I am going to call it right now, as everyone expects a slugfest tonight.  This is baseball and strange things usually happen.  One of the teams is going to score 4 runs or less and win the game.  In fact I wouldn't be surprised to see a 2-1 game or something like that.  Just watch.
