As a White Sox fan I'm not only disapointed in last weekends series, I'm also embarrased that the the White Sox lost all three games to the Cubs.  They have now lost 8 out of the last nine games played against the Cubs and the last 9 games they have played on the road.

It's one thing to lose 5 games in the standings in one week,  but its also embarassing that the reason for that isbecause the Cubs were the main reasin.

I hate the Cubs also, but I hate the Cubs fans even more. We have to be honest with ourselves and admit that the Cubs do have a better team, but that doesn't mean that the White Sox can't win at least 2 out of 3 next weekend.  This week is the most important week of the season now, they need to gain ground now by beating  the Dodgers and Cubs this week, they can't let the Twins catch them or even the Tigers who are playng better lately.

We are beyond the Konerko. Thome and Swisher problems. Danks was outstanding on Firiday, but Vasquez and Contraras were horrible.  WE can only hope the White Sox  get hot and the hitting and pitching do better.

We can't do anything but suggest line-ups and trade possibilities. The players have to do it.  We can only sit on our sofas at home and hope  they win.

No question.  Although sometimes when trades and/or lineups are suggested by some, they get lambasted by others on the board for "thinking they know more than Kenny Williams."  I just don't want a double-standard.

We are beyond the Konerko. Thome and Swisher problems.Swisher is knocking the cover off of the ball lately.  I wasn't expecting much from Paul Konerko and Jim Thome anyway.  Jermaine Dye is exceeding expectations, I think.  Obviously, Carlos Quentin has been better than anyone could have imagined; Orlando Cabrera has been awesome lately; Alexei Ramirez has been better than advertised; and, A.J. Pierzynski has been hitting a ton.  Our problem has still been the absolute inability to string together base hits, the absolute inability to "get 'em over/get 'em in," and our absolute inability to stay out of costly double plays.

The inconsistency is maddening.  We looked like world-beaters against the Pirates, and from the 7th inning of Game 1 vs. the Cubs on, we looked like the worst team in baseball.  Does losing three straight to the Cubs irk me?  Sure.  But at the end of the day, we're still a first place ballclub.  Winning a ton of regular season games means nothing - ask all the teams that lost in the playoffs to the 2006 Cardinals.  Lets just focus on making hay against our division rivals.

Our problem has still been the absolute inability to string together base hits, the absolute inability to "get 'em over/get 'em in," and our absolute inability to stay out of costly double plays. If you go early to a game you will get a better understanding of why this is happening. Batter after batter pulling every ball as hard as they can, Swisher is the worst of them, each long one he stops and looks at the crowd behind him. Ozzie just watches.
It's the same thing game after game.

Batter after batter pulling every ball as hard as they can.

This is because rather than just hit the ball...they're all trying to hit a homerun.  That is also why we have so many pop outs.  They're dropping their shoulders, and trying to hit every ball to the Dan Ryan Express...instead of just hitting it into the gaps.

Everyone laughed at me when I said that we need a change in hitting philosophy, everyone says Greg Walker is the greatest hitting coach, and that his job shouldn't be in jeopardy...why?  That's where the hitting approach and philosophy comes from.

Remember the days of get 'em on...get 'em over....get 'em in?  Remember the days when there were players who wouldn't mind hitting that sac. fly or bunt?  Remember the days when guys were just trying to get base hits...homeruns?  Homeruns are nice, and I like to see them just as much as any other fan...

But you know what I want to see the most?  I want to see our batters string together base hits.

But, we're all supposed to relax "cause we're in first place".  Who cares!?!  Has anyone noticed that the Detroit Tigers are now ONLY 5 games back?  Does anyone else realize that if their pitching staff starts pitching like they're capable of, and they get their injured relievers back that they will be the team that catches us?

But, everyone wants to use the same old argument..."we're in first place".

Ladies and gentlemen...I submit to you that if we continue this inconsistent hitting...we won't be in first place much longer, and we'll wind up exactly where all the sports magazines picked us to finish...tied with KC for last place...so if you're fine with that...you guys just stay relaxed and enjoy the season...because I'm not going to enjoy another lackluster bullshit season like last year...just because we're in first place.

So...you guys go ahead and relax...I'll continue to be concerned about this team because I know that they're better than what they're playing...and I'm also not hoodwinked into believing that everything is okay because we're in first place...everything is NOT okay...it's not even alright...it's down right time to be concerned...PERIOD!
