Now I may not be a Mets fan, so I don't see most of there games and get to see first hand whether Randolph does or doesn't make a questionable move, however, I do know this: 1.4 seasons is a very short time to see whether or not the manager is bad for the team.

I haven't heard of complaints about Randolph making questionable moves, or doing anything that he shouldn't have. If this is the case, then the Mets organization probably is firing Randolph so he can serve as an escapegoat.

the problem was the team is built to win now,the Mets have a number of high-earning veteran players with limited time left to win a title, last year should have been their time but the half-season long slump, that Randolph was never able to halt, was the beginning of the rot setting in,it's time for a new broom

I would have to agree that this was a premature termination of Randolph's contract.  I doubt "poor management" had anything to do with the collapse at the end of last season, rather was due to prima donna athletes who feel they deserve to win just because they make a huge paycheck.

Granted, there has been an incredible amount of underperformance, with no regular startes hitting over .300, but they are placing blame on the wrong person.  Randolph is a world class leader and has an enormous amount of knowledge about the game.  Blame the over the hill players that feel entitled to a championship because they are "all-stars" for not putting in the time and effor to EARN the ring.

Hopefully, Willie will land on his feet somewhere that he can teach and mold young players and get the credit he deserves.

Hello people, right on the front page of the article are his stats....and this is his 4th season as manager...where did u get 1.4 years from? They have done nothing but go backwards since losing in 06 in the NLCS, and made history last year with that collapse. How you can call this premature is beyond me. Also, he does make bad moves, I mean he learned how to manage in the AL, you know, where you really have almost no decisions to make and all, and it was his job to take these over paid grumpy idiot players play well together. This was a serious case of letting the inmates run the asylum. Jerry Manuel will kick their butts and wont take that crap, glad he is aboard now just for that one reason.
