I'm glad to see all of the replies share my thoughts on this.

Yeah....maybe the Pats should look to move Brady since he is only the face of the team.  Heck they should get rid of him since he can't kick a 50 yeard FG.

The Lakers should get rid of Bryant since he rarely plays Center.

Maybe the Chargers should dump LT since he is terrable at Middle Linebacker.

Reference Small Ball:

In 1987 the Twins did not have a small ball team. They had pitching. 3rd best in the league. They also finished with 196 HR's which was middle of the pack tied with the Yankees. They also had the 3rd best team batting average. In 1991 they finished with 140 home runs. Also middle of the pack only 7 behind NNY and ahead of Bos, Tor, ChW. The idea that we were the little team that could is ridiculous. Might I add Home run totals from that time are a bit different. In 1991 it was steroid monkey Canseco that led the AL and MLB with 44 along with Fielder and in 1987 Dawson and McGwire had 49. By todays standards the majority of the big bats were in the 30 home run per season stat line with obvious exceptions.

Possibilities:

I think being realistic here in terms of what will fit the Twins is necessary. They are not going to bring on a big contract (Despite paying Joey Single $10 million aka Nick Punto behind the plate).

I could spend a bunch of time researching possibilities and players I like. That really was not the point. I am just thinking in terms of value. As I stated before is Joey single worth the dough when he is no longer behind the dish and if it looks like he won't be should we consider moving him a long? My feeling is trade while value is high rather than repeat history selling low. If you really want examples I will post some later today. I am slacking at work right now and the boss will probably freak.

No one said they did.

So you're saying the Twins were a power hitting club in '91 then?  Despite not having anyone with 30 HR's.  Despite the mighty 2006 twins hitting more out of the park.  The Twins best power hitting clubs were in the 60's (were they all juicing then too? lol).  They hit 225 in '63.  Hmm 225 vs 140....  They were a good hitting club in '91, but they weren't a power club.  Guys like Morris, Tapani, Erickson, and Aguilera were also huge.  Hmm, slapping the ball around the park, good pitching, the defense was pretty good, they did some running on the bases; sounds like what we've come to call "Twins baseball" to me.

WR, don't do me any favors.  I don't really want examples, I just thought that we should allow you to give us some potential trade thoughts that might validate your claims here.  You are greatly in the minority, so I figured we should be fair and hear your side of it.

It's up to you.

Holy Crap, what kind of blasphamy is this! Never trade Mauer. JOE IS THE Twins. Obviously "Winreaper" is some kind of psycho who obviously should be a Yankees fan. Let's see, Joe is #1 in the league in average. He has a slugging pct of .440, which by the way is 2nd for catchers and 35th overall in the American League! 22nd for doubles, tied with Gomez for 15th for runs, and tied for 11th for walks. He is 3rd in the league in OBP, and 15th for OPS!

Who needs to hit Home runs, when your stats are this good? Or when Morneau or Kubel are hitting them behind you?
