White Sox fans would rather see their team beat the Cubs than make the playoffs.

It's pathetic, yet true. Even when the Sox were winning the World Series, their main goal was making sure everyone knew the Cubs weren't there and don't win titles.

Sad.

Get your own rival, south-siders, ours is the Cardinals. A team we play more than six times a year and one that resides in the same division.

I know plenty of White Sox fans that would rather see the Cubs lose than the Sox win.  That being said, I also know a lot of classic "idiot" cubs fans that are just Cubs fans because it is the thing to do.  They're are dumb fans on both sides, but there are also a lot of smart true fans on both sides.   As a Cubs fan I generally dislike most sox fans because they just hate on the cubs, even in a year like this all they'll say is how the cubs suck and they'll blow it, a lot of sox fans can't just say I don't like you guys but your team looks very good this year.  I also know a lot of Cubs fans who will tell you the Cubs are going all the way in June, now I love the fans that believe they can, but there are a lot of cubs fans that are just dumb and will never admit the cubs are terrible even if they are 30 games below .500 (2006) and I hate those people because they make all cubs fans look bad.  Each side has fans that make them look like idiots, and I truly respect any cubs fan that can admit when they're bad when they actually are bad, and any sox fan that can admit the cubs are good when they are good, those are the real baseball fans.

Ah, yes.  It's that time of year again where Cubs fans are always telling us who we are and what's important to us...just keep talking, we don't really care what you think.

Thanks for the tip about the Cardinals.  I'm going to petition the league to see if we can play the Tigers, Indians and Twins between all these Cubs games.  Great idea.

Yes, BOTH teams have intelligent AND stupid fans.  Do I want the Cubs to do well?  Not really, no.  I had no idea that meant I didn't want my own team to win or go to the playoffs.  Interesting (and completely false) take.

I want the Sox to win next weekend just like any weekend.

I belive your an idiot.  WE whitesox fans could care less if we beat you or not.  We want them to make the playoffs and win a World Series!  I know you don't know what that is about but we do.  Win a world Series this century then maybe we White Sox fans will care if we can beat a perrenial loser.

LOL.  It wasn't long ago when the White Sox hold onto the "perennial losers" title in the AL.  You finally win one and have the nerve to act as if you've won several WS in recent years.  Too much.  I personally don't care either way if the White Sox win or lose, I just like watching Ozzie Guillen's tirades.  The Cubs have a solid team this year and the only teams that can give them a run in the playoffs will be the Phillies and the Cardinals. The Sox on the other hand have to get past the teams in their own division.  Tigers are starting to get it together and Joel Zumaya looked good in his rehab assignment.  Justin Verlander had a good outing as well.  The White Sox will be at .500 pretty soon and battling just to win the division.  They won't be good enough to win the wildcard if they don't win the AL Central.  Unfortunately that will probably come from the AL East again. Either Yankees or the surprising Rays.  That pitching staff of Matt Garza, Scott Kazmir and James Shields looks pretty solid and Troy Percival seems to have got his stuff back. We'll see if they can hang in til the end.  Lucky for the White Sox they will only face Ryan Dempster on Sunday and not have face Carlos Zambrano.  Hopefully it gets rained out on Sunday and we can play a make-up game on Monday.  I look forward to the sweep of the White Sox next weekend.

Obviously every fan base has good fans and bad ones. I'm guessing the first Sox fan replier of this thread was a good fan and the little kid that said "your an idiot" (awesome grammar!) was a bad one.

I was half joking around with the generalization at the top because I thought it was a hilarious that a national writer would make that joke. Plus, he used to be a beat writer for the Tigers, so I doubt it was without at least some backing.

Let's try this one, though: How many White Sox fans actually want a Cubs/White Sox World Series?

I want one, but I'm a Cubs fan. I think it would be awesome. It just feels like most Sox fans would not want one because they'd rather see the Cubs not even make the playoffs.

FYI - I was pulling for the Sox in the WS because one of my best friends is a Sox fan and I figured everyone needn't be as miserable as I am come every October.
