I'm thinking about picking up Maicer Izturis to bolster my infield.  Any info out there on when Aybar is coming back and how that's going to affect Izturis's playing time?  Doesn't seem like Izturis is a guy they should be benching any time soon.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Jun 11 Mike Scarr, of MLB.com, reports Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim IF Erick Aybar (finger) has begun to take batting practice and could begin a rehab assignment early next week, according to manager Mike Scioscia.

But with Figgins returning this weekend, Wood will probably be sent back down.  Then you will have Kendrick, Izturis, Figgins and Quinlan with Aybar probably about 9-10 days away all trying to split that IF time.  I could see Izturis taking ABs from all of them once Aybar returns and Quinlan on the outside looking in and possibly designated for assignment.

But that still leaves Izturis good for another week or more of solid playing.  As well as he has been playing, he may steal the job from Aybar if Aybar doesn't come back hitting right away.

Decent pick up for the short term but I wouldn't do it in a league where you pay for transactions.

I don't have any facts or quotes but I think it is worth picking up Izturis.  Izturis is the type of player that the Angels love so he could remain the full time SS.  Aybar wasn't knocking the cover off the ball when he was playing.  He was hitting .270 with an OBP of only .287!  The Angels seem to have a rash of injuries every year so I am sure that Izturis will get full time, or close to full time, at bats the rest of the year.
