Most of the predictions for the upcoming 2008-09 college football season looks something like this.

1) Georgia Bulldogs
2) Oklahoma Sooners
3) Ohio State Buckeyes
4) USC Trojans
5) Missouri Tigers
6) Texas Longhorns
7) Florida Gators
8) LSU Tigers
9) Clemson Tigers
10) Arizona State Sun Devils
11) Virginia Tech Hokies
12) Texas Tech Red Raiders
13) Wisconsin Badgers
14) Tennessee Volunteers
15) Kansas Jayhawks
16) Auburn Tigers
17) Penn State Nittany Lions
18) Oregon Ducks
19) BYU Cougars
20) West Virginia Mountaineers
21) Virginia Cavaliers
22) Pittsburgh Panthers
23) Illinois Fighting Illini
24) South Carolina Gamecocks
25) Fresno State Bulldogs

Tigers coach Tommy Bowden might be poised to win the ACC championship at last. After getting a contract extension, Bowden assembled one of the best recruiting classes in the country. He also persuaded junior tailback James Davis and receiver Aaron Kelly to stay in school. Underrated quarterback Cullen Harper comes back to lead what might be the ACC's best offense. So are the Tigers up to the task to reach the goals that are set so high?

Which of these top 25 predictions are overrated and who was left out of the top 25 and should be rated as one of the best 25 college football teams in the nation.

Who are your top two ACC teams and which team will win it and what would your top 25 look like?

Lets get this out of the way right up front. South Carolina , Virginia, and Pitt should be removed IMO.Where is Boise St?  West Va should be ranked about 5 spots higher.

Obviously the Tigers should be favored to dominate the ACC , we have so much talent at the skill spots and I believe that the O-Line and linebacker play will be better than expected. I really think that FSU is not getting the respect they deserve and before its all said and done they will finish ahead of Wake , whom many are calling for to top us in the Atlantic. Va Tech will Beamer-ball their way into the championship game to lose to us. Finally, let me say that UNC is probably gonna shock some non-believers this year if the QB steps up a bit.

GO TIGERS.

tigerdug I agree with most everything you are saying to include all you said about Clemson but, I'm concerned about our OB Harper and will he be able to play at the same high level he did last year and last will the coaches allow our two RB 's to carry the ball enough instead of going to the passing game to much. I also hope our defense is as good as they are on paper.

I in my heart feel that Clemson could go 10-2 our better.

Go Tigers!!!

I also agree almost down the line with tigerdug.  I cannot see Spurrier's chickens ending up in the Top 25 as opposing coaches seem to caught up with his style of football.

If Clemson is ever in position to make it to the ACC Championship game, this should be the year.  However, I said the same thing 2 years ago and was disappointed in the way we let it slip away.  Then again last  year the Tigers let it slip away at the end of the conference regular season.

This has left me cautiously optimistic about Clemson in 2008.  I truly think we have have the ability to win our ACC Division race.  I'm a bit apprehensive about beating Virginia Tech in the ACC title game after the way they busted the Tigers in the mouth in 2007.  Here's one Tiger hoping that Coach Bowden will finally be able to motivate the team for every game in a season and Clemson can regain a long awaited ACC crown.

Lets get this out of the way right up front. South Carolina , Virginia, and Pitt should be removed IMO.

Mostly agreed.  I hate it when teams get included in pre-season top 25's just because somebody likes them, or somebody has this gut fealing.  No team that finished the prior season with only three wins (Pitt) should ever be included in a top 25 poll.  At least not until they earn it.  Teams on five game losing streaks need to re-earn it as well, imo.  I disagree with Virginia.  I thought they had a decent year last season, and definitely have reasons to be included.

Where is Boise St?

They're still in a little bit of a rebuilding mode.  They finished out of the top 25 last year, lost a couple of guys to the draft, and have to break in yet another qb this year.

I really think that FSU is not getting the respect they deserve Completely disagree.  I think they continue to get way more respect than they currently deserve based soley off of what they used to be 5-7 years ago.  It's been long enough that it's time they had to play their way into the top 25 rather than be given a spot in the pre-season.

If ever there was a year for the Clemson Tigers, this should be it.  You return a ton of players from last year, have a couple of early round guys in the back field, and a more than serviceable guy at qb.  The schedule is extremely favorable (I've already voiced more than enough of my opinion on that point).  If only you had a championship caliber coach, I'd say you'd be a lock for more than just the ACC title game.

There are only two obstacles in Bowden's way.  First, Frank Beamer flat out toys with your boys.  If you meet VT in the ACC title game, you're toast.  But then, you might get lucky and someone else takes VT out for you.  The more I hear out of VT's camp, the less I think they're a lock to wiin their division.  Second, Bowden can't have the idiotic, "they lost to who?" kind of loss that has characterized every single season of his Tiger career.

ok. in my mind i think that Clemson is definitly a top 10 team in the nation. winning the ACC this year is a guarantee this year. we still have the great running combination and cullen harper is a heisman watch! the defenc including the linebackers will show up. maybe better than ever. the o line might be a struggle but tommy will get us through that! i say we finish the season 12-0 and the ACC title game. and were headin to the Orange Bowl as the ACC champs!
