I don't remember Dominique Wilkins playing for the Celtics. Have I just blocked it out because I was so used to seeing him and Bird go at it when he was a Hawk? I even remember when the X-man Xavier McDaniel was there.
Pistol Pete can't really be considered a Celtic either. His career was pretty much over by the time he got to Boston. He was also more of a pro drunk tthen a basketball player at that point in his career.
Maybe throw Cornbread Maxwell in there.

Considering you're taking the two greatest franchises in all the NBA, I think ESPN had a stat on NBA Championships, both the Celtics and Lakers combined OWN 50%
I think there should be at least a 3 season minimum on the criteria of who should make the Celtics & Lakers ALL-TIME roster ... got to agree with DropKicks, Nique shouldn't be in the Celtics roster, c'mon now, he's got a Hawks uniform underneath the Green.
As far as guarding Cousey, I guess just being nostalgic about it, sorry Kobe, the ICON the LOGO himself should be on the floor against him in the starting line up, heck for years Jerry West was considered Mr Laker and as much as Kobe has done for this Laker team, just out of respect to the men who elevated this franchise ... Magic & West should be in the starting line up with Kobe on the bench.
KG vs Wilt ... that is as close to pay per view as it gets ... just have to tell Wilt and the 10,000 women, he has to go to work that night  .
I mean sorry to say as great a thread that this is Aboy, Dennis Johnson was a big omission on the list of Celtics. Even McHale, Bird and Chief have credited the great PG for many of the championships so to say he was clutch is a understatement.
Got to say this about the Lakers, when Kobe & Shaq are on the Bench .... you know you're history is great. Kind of hard putting Kareem & West anywhere but the starting line up. Goodrich and or Worthy, dang that's a toss up

I think the Celtics would win in 7 games. They could Hack-a-Wilt and Hack-a-Shaq. They would have more clearly defined roles and I believe their bench depth is greater. Plus, historically, the Celtics have had LA's number.

I find it funny that everyone is stating that
"modern NBA athlete's are stronger, more athletic, better trained/coached, and just face a tougher competition to get to the NBA than there was in the past"
first off I would take better coached right out of there some of the best coaches ever a long retired (in any sport) second how can you really judge if they are stronger and more athletic there is far more focus on training than there was back in the day, the old timers were playing a game then living it up (probably eating and smoking like pigs and well then there's wilt lets not go into what he was doing:) ) what would the players of the past be like if they trained (and were payed) like they players now (what would someone like Babe Ruth be if he had been on ANY kind of training and/or diet) Also if you took todays players and put them back around the 50s to 70s they would get the crap nocked out of them the game was far more phisycal, and they would learn quickly not to complain to the refs to much:)
