Lamar Patterson PITT's 5 star recruit is now ranked No. 15 in rivals Top 150. Also PITT has a chance to get Dan Jennings a center ranked No. 116 of the Top 150.

Is Patterson due in this year? or is he a year behind? Do we have scholarship room for the other guy?

Oh man, I'm juiced about this Patterson fellow. I don't believe Pitt BB has ever recruited a top 20 prospect. Oh, I can see Fields dishing to this Patterson, with DeJuan and Sam ready to clear the boards! Here's a ???, is he a shooting or point guard? I hope he is a shooting guard, to compliment Fields next year.

Hes 6'5'' gaurd or wingman. Probably going to play sg at pitt. He is only a junior right now, so he wont be on next years squad. Its nice to start building some depth though for the following years.

I am pumped to see that he is getting great reviews and with him committed so early I hope he has made the definitive decision to come to Pitt and doesn't see all this new attention as a reason to open up his recruitment. Also like bruschis a joke said he is only a junior in HS now so Fields, Young, and Biggs will graduate before Paterson ever steps on the court. It is def great to see that we have a strong base to future recruiting class I just hope Jamie keeps doing what he's doing and we can continue the success as we have been able to do in recent years

He y guys, Lamar Patterson is not as high as a recruit as you think. He is good, but the player you should watch and is down to two schools (Maryland and Pitt) is Dante Taylor. He is a monster with very good offensive skills. He is 6' 8' and has a larger frame which would be a great addition to free up Blair to the Power Forward. Dante is a True 5 star and is rated the 4th best power forward for 2009 and improving. His physical part of the game will be worked on this summer and then look-0ut. He is out of Lancaster PA and could be playing this summer against the Pitt players in the Summer leagues.
Lamar Patterson is a 6' 5" Small Forward with slow feet, so he would not be able to cover a guard defensively. He will be a great role player, but keep your ears open for Dante Taylor who is a top 20 recruit who may make an anouncement over the next couple months.

I am actually a teacher in the school district of lancaster (feeds into mccaskey...where patterson plays). i have seen him play first hand a few times. and to put it simply, the kid has skills.
connect04...you claim that he has "slow feet." where exactly are you getting this from? if you have seen him play in person then you are watching a different player than i am...or he decided to goof around whne you attended his games.
i have seen him make ridiculous moves off the dribble and on the post. when playing against higher level competition at the state level he could handle any guard/small forward while on defense. he is anything but slow. in fact, he is pretty much the opposite. he will easily make the transition from high school to college, and will not need to change positions to do so.
to be honest, though, i couldn't care less if he was the #15 ranked recruit or the #150. pitt has proven that we can take any player that fits our system and make it work. obviously, if we get better players our system will work better, but i am not going to get overly excited just because patterson is ranked #15. in a month he will be somewhere between #1 and # 150. does this ranking (which, by the way, is more than a year before he will arrive on pitt's campus to practice) really matter?

Nice post panther3321. Lamar isn't exaclty slow, the information I am referreing to is that he is slow reacting on defense and will not be able to keep up with quick guards (as a guard)which is the nornal for College. Lamar has some really good attributes (Scoring and Rebounding) and will become a very strong two way player. Some of the posts were building him up to be a super player at a level with Juan Blair (at 6' 5", this is difficult if not impossible) and I would hate to see people setting their expectations to high for such a player who needs some work. This is exactly what happened to Biggs. It would be nice if he could develope to be similar to Keith Benjamin with a little more height. We will see, and as I said, this Summer can be a great development opportunity to polish the skills.
I was mainly trying to alert everyone that we have a superior player who is strongly considering Pitt (a definite 5 star and rising) and will become an immediate impact player. This is Dante Taylor from Maryland.
I was very dissapointed that Zeke Marshall did not choose Pitt, as the coaching staff would have been able to developed him into an NBA talent.
Here is some information (I hope this works):
