Michigan is hosting their "Barbeque at the Big House" today, but one of the expected visitors for the event actually made the trip down a day early. Monroeville (Pa.) Gateway defensive back/wide receiver Corey Brown traveled to Michigan on Friday with his mother and godparents.
"I had something to do today, so we came up yesterday," Brown said Saturday morning. "We came right back (last night). It was real nice up there."
Visitors today are expected to meet with head coach Rich Rodriguez as well as Michigan staff members like academic advisor Shari Acho and strength and conditioning coach Mike Barwis. Brown was able to do and see most of that same stuff when he stopped through the school yesterday.
"They were all cool up there," Brown said. "I talked to Coach Rod a lot. We just talked about how I fit into what they're doing and the new stuff like the practice field they are building and the weight room.
"We went to the academic center, talked to the lady and she talked to my mother. (Mom) loved it and she was (impressed) with Shari because she thought she really cared about the athletes and getting them graduated in four years."
Shortly before leaving for Michigan, Brown picked up another big offer, that being from Ohio State. The Buckeyes have already landed Brown's teammate, five-star linebacker Dorian Bell, and are top two with Michigan for Brown.
"I'm going to go see Ohio State too and see what's up with them, then I'll see how far each of them are away from each other," Brown said. "Right now it's Michigan on top. (A decision) will probably be at the end of the summer."
Rivals.com ranks Brown as the No. 107 player in the country. He has the ability to play wide receiver or defensive back at the next level, and Michigan is recruiting him for the cornerback position. Last weekend Brown took home defensive back MVP honors at the State College NIKE Camp.
