Since Brooks Robinson turned over the regular 3rd base job to a different player, how many different regular 3rd basemenr have the Orioles had. By regular 3rd basemen I mean played at least 100 games at 3rd base in a full season.
2nd part - How many can you name? (Hint one player did it twice).

man oh man, that's a toughie. Did Ripken log enough games at 3B in both his trips there to be the regular? I didn't think he did at the beginning of his career.
3B seems to be a vacuum in my O's memory. I only really started paying attention in the mid-90s (because that's when I was odl enough to) but apart from Ripken and Mora I'm drawing a blank. Time for me to go to the books lol.

This question is mind boggling. I guessed the Orioles have had 13 (14 if you count Cal twice) 3B since Brooks Robinson retired in 1975. And think I'm right. I got the easy ones in Doug DeCinces, Cal Ripken (twice), Craig Worthington, Leo Gomez, B.J. Surhoff, Tony Batista and Melvin Mora. I also knew Todd Cruz, Lloyd Rayford and Ray Knight. I totally forgot about Wayne Gross. Who did you consider in 1988? I guessed Rick Schu, but both Rene Gonzales and Worthington played a ton at 3B too. In 1995 I remembered Bobby Bonilla, but Gomez and Jeff Manto also split time. Jeff Huson too. If you count Schu and Bonilla I got 12.

I'm pretty sure Leo Gomez was my favorite marginally good player that the O's have ever had.

I remembered Surhoff as an OF for some reason. I think I was blocking Tony Batista out of my mind.

Hi Move,
I got 13 also. All the names you mentioned with two changes. I did not count Bonilla, because I forgot he played 3rd most of the time, and I counted Chris Sabo. Even though he did not play 100 games, he was their starting 3B until he got hurt. I think he played in around 90-95 games. Here is my list:
DeCinces, Cal, Todd Cruz, Wayne Gross, Floyd Rayford, Ray Knight, Rick Schu, Craig Worthington, Chris Sabo, Jeff Manto, Leo Gomez, BJ Surhoff, Tony Bautista, Cal (again), Melvin Mora.
Rene Gonzales or Jeff Huson I did not count b/c they split a lot of time between 2B, SS, and 3B and did not consider them a "regular".
Is there anybody we missed?

Hey pitt,
Surhoff played one or two years as a full-time 3B for the O's. We then moved him to OF.

Wow! I can't count. I listed 14 different names. Still, pretty mind boggling isn't it? The list grows if we count players like Gonzales, Huson, Ryan Minor, Bonilla, Aubrey Huff, Wayne Krenchicki, Chris Gomez, etc...etc...etc.
