Does anyone else think Brandon Webb can reach 25 wins this season? We're a Quarter of the way through the season and he has a chance to be 9-0 after tonights game against Colorado. Just sayin'....

Entirely possible, but highly unlikely. He's by far and away the best pitcher in baseball (with all due respect to Cliff Lee). But 25 wins means he will have to avoid the no decisions as well, and there is not a lot of control over that from his standpoint.

Not gonna happen. Pitcher's did that back when they would start 3 times as many games as they do now, and pitch longer into games as well. It would be phenomenal and astonishing to see, but we won't see it. Webb is playing like he is the best pitcher in the league, but if i am a betting man, and my life is on the line for a game, i would rather have Peavy on the mound than Webb. Not nearly the start to the season that Webb is having, but i just like his stuff better.

Peavy's record would be much better if he wasn't on the Padres, their offense has been anemic thus far.
I think it's possible as well, likely no. I could definitely see it happening though. Webb gets to take the mound against the NL West more often than not. That division just looks awful outside of Arizona. Los Angeles has a decent record, but their offense has been suspect at times. Colorado, San Diego, and San Francisco all just look plain bad.

I think it is possible, but I don't think it will happen. It is so hard for a pitcher to stay this good throughout an entire season, and when Brandon Webb hasn't been at his best, the Diamondbacks are scoring runs for him.
The offense is much better than last year's, and Webb won 18 games last season. The Diamondbacks play in a division where there are two very bad offensive teams (Giants and Padres), an inconsistent offensive team (Dodgers), and a very good offensive team (Rockies). The pitching throughout the division is very good with the exception of Colorado, but it is possible.

It isn't all that rare that a pitcher or two starts off blazing hot and goes 8-0, 9-0, 10-2, etc. However, the season sets in. The hitters get to know the pitchers better. The summer takes it's toll. By the end of the stretch, we see why 25 is such a difficult feat.
The man has a chance, but it's going to be tougher than you think.

The possibility is decent he could get 25 wins. By my calculations Brandon Webb would have close to 24 starts left on a 5 day rotation. Out of that he would need to win 16 to get to 25. The possibility of him going 16-8 is pretty good. Now add a possible injury (Micah Owings Sprained an ankle batting a few weeks ago and missed a start and had trouble in another one because he could not step down like he needed to) a couple no decisions, a sore arm here and there general illness etc it could get tight but it is very reachable. The season is long and hard on pitchers. The good thing is Brandon Webb is young and his arm has not had the stress on it like Randy Johnson and the other older guys in the league. If he keeps this pace he will win the CY Young again hands down. He threw 111 pitch's last night through 7 1/3. His best pitch is his sinker. This pitch has always been his best pitch but this season it is absolutely killing hitters every time he gets on the mound. He has a very good fastball that he can blow by guys add a decent curve and then a change up that he can mix in and that makes him pretty dominate. How dominating is he??? The Diamondbacks had 4 fricking erros last night and they still pretty much dominated the game. Oh By the way this is the second seew of the Rockies this year. Next up are the Tigers and pitching tonight is Dan Haren another decent pitcher. They then go to Florida for 3 and Atlanta for 4. This team is going to get tired real fast. They will not have a day off unti June 5th. After playing the Tigers this weekend they take off to play the Marlins and the Braves fly back after a Monday Day game to play the Giants for a Tuesday night game. Then the Nationals come into town and then back on the road to play the Brewes and Pirates. Brandon webbs next start should be againts the Marlins Next wednesday and then Against the Braves Monday the 26th and then against the Nationals on the 31st. If he is still undefeated after those he I think he stands a really good shot at 25 wins.

No. He has been streaky his entire career. As evidenced by his long scores innings streak from last season. He has also though had months where he is very hittable and very mediocre. Is he the best pitcher in the national league? Quite possibly. Will he win 25 games? Absolutely not.

Anything is possible but Webb winning 25 games this season may be improbable. He may have 35 starts this season at the very most. Considering the fact that he may lose a few games and there will be no decisions and blown saves, he will need alot of luck.
A 9 - 0 start for the season is not a lock for a 25 game win season.
