Clay Bennett's attorneys apparently are trying to make the case in their legal fight to break a lease at Key Arena that the Sonics' departure from Seattle would have no impact on the city. That the dollars that now go to games at Key Arena would just go to other local entertainment options. This runs TOTALLY counter to every argument the NBA has ever made for building a new arena: that having an NBA team is an economic stimulus for a community. I wonder how well David Stern (an attorney) likes this view of the impact a team has. Maybe the folks in OKC might want to hear how the team they're getting doesn't have an impact on its community.

Here's a link to the story in the Seattle Times. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/sonics/2004415556_sonics15

Really good post.

This group of idiots continue to amaze me. Who in the world have they done business with that has brought them to this social/economic status? I ask, because those people must be thee worlds most ignorant of people. I don't get it. When one thing doesn't work, they pile on something else that's even more goofy then the day before.

I still see this team moving to OKC, I just don't see how it can't happen unless Schultz wins a miracle. Hey if I was a betting man, I wouldn't have bet his 3 dollar brewed coffee idea would have worked either.... I obviously would've been wrong. I can't see how the City can't win the battle to keep him here for 2 more years. That is a legal contract. If the Sonics are not in Seattle next year, I have completely lost faith in everything contractual and I might as well stop paying my mortgage because if Clay don't pay, I don't pay either.

You have to be kidding me! Clay just keeps pulling things out of thin air. How does he honestly argue that the NBA dosent bring money and then turn around and say that OKC needs the team to bring money in....
UDoubleU your right if Clay can break a contract than everyone should be able to break their contract. If I was Kevin Durant I would just leave and go play somewhere other than OKC since contracts dont matter.

does clay honestly think any of his arguments for the move actually make sense?  why keep up the b-s.  just say you're moving the team because you want a franchise at home; it's still stupid and heartless, the way he's doing it, but then at least he's not trying to justify it.

So far, Delta, very little that Bennett and co has said makes any sense except to people in OKC. But then they're so desperate that they'll buy any lie if it'll land them a team.

there was a huge poll that was taken throughout the state, but the problem was that the poll question wasnt do you want the Sonics to stay, you can poll as many people as you want if you ask a question you know you will get the answer you want..if the Sonics leave will I spend my money elsewhere? of course what a stupid question, do I want the Sonics to leave..no, they should do a poll in OKC if you dont get a major sports franchise will you spend your money somewhere else? of course they are already doing it
