Ha, I sense that was right from the heart. I am just putting it out there because I have heard from many that the Pens get most of the calls and this would have been an easy one to give the Pens if you believed in some sort of conspiracy.
I think we all thought it was probably a goal. It just was too close to overturn at the time. If they hadn't made an initial call, I think they'd have given it to Crosby. I guess they just didn't have the right angle, then. Oh well, thankfully for you guys it didn't matter.
That was a still photo, probably taken from one of the holes in the glass along the corners. The replay guys look at video taken by the league, not photos taken by the media. I doubt very much that the guys in Toronto had that view to look at.
I agree with Red, we all knew the puck was across the goal line (at least I thought so). But the call on the ice was no-goal, and there was no evidence that the puck crossed the line. Any assumption that it crossed the line required inferences that were not supported by actual observations. Just as easily as we can all assume it was across the line, we should all be able to see that there was no real evidence of that having happened.
Had the league officials decided to go against their own rules and award the Pens a goal in this situation, there would be no end to the conspiracy theories. Pens fans should be extremely happy that the league ruled the way they did, and they should have still been happy even if they had lost that game by one goal. As Red said, fortunately for Pens fans, they don't have to worry about that.
I don't know, that's kind of a weird angle. If you were to look at it with a camera angle at 180 degrees with the goal line, it's conceivable that it had not crossed the line completely. I guess it depends on whether or not that photo was taken at the precise time forward movement of the puck stopped.
did you guys see the taunting of the flyer fans by the pitt players that was classless i know not every one did it and those that didnt do it like crosby, fleury, and others can win wiht class but like laraque (however you spell his name but who cares) goes and taunts the fans???? classless
It's cool, Sabres. I like that the players and fans taunt one another. I mean, when someone is rubbing a 5-1 whoopin in the fan's faces, that isn't cool. But a little banter in a close game is alright with me. Adds to the rivalry.
Yeah Red, in the big thread about the Flyers and Pens there are a lot of fans complaining about stuff like that. Its pretty funny. Fans taunt players, in both cities. I don't see any reason why they can't taunt back. I just think its funny when fans complain about the other cities fans as though their own players and fans don't do similar things.
