1. Heilman has to go. if he is to have any chance of success in the future he has to get out of Shea. Period! He should not have been brought in there it should have been Smith and none of that crap would have happened.

2. Zimmerman is a friggin beast did you see what he did with that high fast ball.

Also stop booing Delgado so much, atleast the effort has been there and some fire. We can't make so many of these guys hate playing here. Just saying show so restraint in the booing of our own. Except maybe Heilman, God he sucked.

Mas,

I agree! Heilman has to go. I don't knwo who they would bring into the bullpen though. Any ideas? Smith looks primed to take the next step. He looks unhittable. That slider away to the righties is unreal.

At this point he should be nothing more than a long man. He had no buisness being in the like that, and that on Willie. With the people in the bulpen now Heilman is the obvious choice for long man, laughers or blowouts thats it. His mental make up right now is shattered, he should not have been called on there. With Smith, Wise, Feliciano, Sanchez, Wagner. It was the 7th inning of a tied game thats exactly when hes at his worst these days.

Vargas looked good considering, I just hope it doesn't turn out to be 1 or 2 good starts then the bottom drops out.

Also stop booing Delgado so much,

If it makes you feel any better, you would not believe how many Phillies players were getting booed by their fans tonight.  The commentator said on two different occasions,"______ is receiving boos from the Philly faithful."  What is so faithful about a fan who boos you on a bad night, or on a cold streak?  There is nothing faithful, or fan-like about it.

I think it is sad to see home fans booing a player who is trying.  Like when Johan Santana got booed that one day.  He was trying, and he could've done a lot worse.  Granted the Braves fan in me smiled a little bit, because it was reassuring that he is human.

The problem with Heilman vs. Smith is that they are VERY similar in their numbers.  If you check their lefty/righty splits, both are lights out against righties and get killed by lefties.

For Heilman, lefties are hitting .394, slugging .848, and on base at .500.  Against righties, it's .189/.208/.306.

For Smith, it's .417/.500/.500 for lefties, and .137/.157/.214 for righties.

And yet Willie continues to allow Heilman to face lefties (40 plate appearances by lefties).

Does anyone else think that is bad managing?

Delgado is trying and thinking outside the box a little with that bunt the other night. He should do more of that till they stop doing such a dramatic shift on him. As long as he pushes it far enough toward 3rd it's a hit everytime even for his slow self.

35 most of us don't need #'s to know that Heilman sucks in presure spots. It's for his own good as well as the team if he goes some where else, half the time especially at home he's beaten before he gets to the mound. As to your question yes, Willie keeps trying to resurrect this guy but in a tight game at shea right now to put him in is to say I'll probobly lose here but if he comes through it'll help build him back up. Do that on the ROAD, not at home where he's going to get hammered and fall far deeper when he does fail.

That's a great thought that I hadn't considered.  I actually like Heilman and really hope he gets it together, but it is just not going to happen if he tries to work things out in pressure situations at Shea.  The crowd has turned on him, and whether or not that's the best thing for the team, they certainly have reason to let their feelings be known.

I don't know how much it would be possible, given that I would bet that other managers have figured out he struggles against lefties, but putting him in a position to avoid facing them would seem like a good first step.

For example, I would much rather have seen Heilman face Zimmerman, despite how dangerous he can be, then Lopez, Guzman, etc.  Treat him as a long man/mop up duty/right-handed specialist/whatever, but if he ever faces Utley, Howard, Tex, Chipper , or any of the myriad other power hitting lefties again I'll lose it.

I like Heilman too, but its time for a change not only for the team but more so for him. The only stat to me that matters when it comes to middle relievers not setup or closer is inherited runners scoring. As of right know Aaron is 2 for 8 coming into a game with a runner on, thats 25% of the time he gets out of the inning without letting the runner score. That my friends is BRUTAL, it shows that the pressure of the perfect pitch is killing him. Last night he was up 0-2 on Flores then threw 3 balls that were not even close than had to grove one right down the middle of the plate. Maybe they can bring back Muniz ?

Yeah I don't know about you guys but I felt torn there. Part of me was mad as hell about all the bad pitches that came after said 0-2 count, but sitting on that bench after all that booing I felt sorry for him. He needs to get away from this team for his own sake. That was harsh.

My comments on the Mets/Nationals is simply put...

Thank you Nationals and a very big thank you goes to the legendary 29 year old prospect Aaron Heilman. If it wasn't for you guys, while my Marlins have stunk it up againsta the Reds, we would have actually lost alot more than 1 game in the standings to the Mets.

Also, thank you Braves for last night. Please do it again until you guys are closer to us.

Hopefully we can win and avoid the 4 game sweep.

Zimmerman was garbage before this series, not a beast

Willie Randolph has to go, and the Mets are a disgraceful team and will miss the playoffs again, and after getting Santana, thats mind boggling
