No, not the players, coaches, or fans were trying to get the edge.  It was the people that worked at the Wachovia Center.  Yesturday morning, some of the Penguins arrived early for the morning skate early, it was supposed to start around 11:30 and they wanted to go out on the ice at 11:15 when some players arrived.  The people working for the center refused to turn the lights on in the arena until 11:30, but that did not stop the Penguins.  They went out on the ice and skated for 15 minutes in pitch black.  Today, they refused to get the goals out for the Penguins practice so the Penguins workers had to go and get them set up and everything.  Looks like Philadelphia is trying to get every edge possible! LETS GO PENS!

Yeah, cuz making the Penguins equipment guys do a little extra work is really gonna affect the Pens come game time! Or, waiting an extra 15 mins. to start practice is really gonna hurt em! C'mon.. if practice starts at 11:30, and the workers have a set schedule to go by, they do it. They're not gonna go out of their way to do things for a visiting team, especially when it's not part of their job to do so. Do you want them to roll out the red carpet on the ice for the Pens players too? Do the Pens want a little extra spit shine on their skates? Have em pack some extra chewing gum and use their own saliva. Do you guys really need to find things like this to complain about? Be happy with your 3 wins and probable Finals appearance and leave it at that. It's amazing that even winning isn't enough sometimes.

I just chalk it up as home ice gamemanship. No big deal.

What did bother me a little though was as the Flyers were walking off the ice, a bunch of kids were hanging over with their hands out as far down as they could reach, looking for some high fives. These kids didn't care that the Flyers lost, it would have been a huge thrill for them to get some skin, but I saw one player (didn't catch who) reach up and the rest of the Flyers just walked on by. That bothered me a bit. I know they just took a very disappointing loss, but it would have meant so much to the kids.

I did not post this to say anything bad about the Flyers or show my arrogance towards the Penguins, but to show how important practice is to this young team.  They are very talented, but know they can be better.  How many other teams would have just waited those 15 minutes to practice?  A lot, but the Penguins didn't let it stop them from getting an extra 15 minutes of practice, they went out and practiced in the pitch black.  That 15 minutes might not mean much, but this shows the Penguins dedication to this team.  And the next day, it did not slow the Penguins practice down.  This team values practice and knows they need to continue to practice, some teams would have let this slow down there practice but the Penguins didn't slow down practice at all.

Wow.. 9 uses of the word "practice". Sounds like Allen Iverson has become a Pen fan hahaha. "We're talkin' bout practice, man!"

That was extremely rude and disrespectful towards a visiting team like that. Very unclassy. I don't think they were trying to get some sort of edge by doing that though. I'm not being biased either, because if we did that to a visiting team, i would call our arena crew a$$holes as well. Who know's, they might've, haha. Oh well. How about them Penguins though!? Doing fantastic. Let's hope they can keep up what they are doing, because I'd rather not have Philly find a weakness, exploit it, and make a comeback.

I hope the Flyers one defensemen is doing good after taking a puck to the face. That was awesome of the Pitt crowd to cheer and clap whenever he got up ok. Pain in that must've been terrible.

Did you see the one Flyer fan (some fat kid, late teens, early 20s), stand up out of his chair after Marion Hossa scored a goal and he was up against the boards right in front of the kid, and Hossa was celebrating, so the kid got up and started punching the glass behind Hossa and yelling stuff. I was like... wow, sit down and stfu, kid. Seriously, stop trying to act tough, Marion Hossa could probably punch his lights out. I don't understand why fans have to talk sh*t to other players because they are doing their job. He doesn't play for the Flyers, he has no room whatsoever to say anything.

So what you're saying, tweaker, is that when opposing players score in Pittsburgh, Pens fans politely clap and say "good job"?  WTF are you talking about?  You're calling out an excited fan banging on the glass as if it's never happened anywhere before.  Why can't you be happy with a win, and not go bash on Philly fans for no reason?

He has room to do whatever he wants to, within reason.  He paid for his ticket.  He can cheer and jeer to his heart's content, and if he gets out of hand, he gets tossed.  That's what the price of a ticket gets you.  Maybe Hossa could punch his lights out, but only if the kid was facing the other way and Hossa had a running start, hahahaha.
