Is anyone else worried that the Bengals have way to many Questions going into next season? I mean with Odel Thurman being slated to compete at middle LB when he hasent played for 2 years.  The same could be said about Chris Perry and Brooks are we putting to much stock in these players with questions? Do you feel that the Bengals need to do more in the Free Agency department to sure up these positions if some of these players dont end up panning out? I just feel that more could be done to not set us up for failure when we have so many If's going into the upcoming season.

Sure they have question marks but doesn't every team at this point in the year?  Yeah they have a bunch of players that still need to prove themselves but they also have other players behind them in the depth chart also tryin to get on the field.   i'm not really worried.  As long as ALL of our linebackers don't go down again like last year.

But our depth is pretty good if you ask me, and this is a really young team after the O tackles and #1 & #2 WR's.  This may not be our year but i could see the defense getting in the top 15 of the league by the end of the year and seeing the running game coming back to life.

I can't really get too worried until I see these guys down at Georgetown.  I know Perry used to be pretty sweet but, yeah, I don't have too much faith in him.  He is far more likely to get injured again than anything else.  If we don't get Alexander I would expect to see more of the same out of Rudi, especially if he's getting back to his weight and speed of the 04 season.  We will see I guess... I definitely think our defense will see some serious improvement.

I'd say the biggest ? on the team is going to be our WR situation.  If Chad doesn't play can TJ take over the doubles and triples of the WR1 position?  Who fills in the WR2 and WR3?  Will this still be a pass offense?  I am interested to see who steps up from these new guys we drafted at the position.

Who knows with Chad, either we get a headcase disgruntled pro bowler to start the season or they trade him in June and HOPEFULLY get another veteran WR.  I would be happy with a bunch of draft picks but those youngins could use another vet alongside TJ to help em acclimate. <style id="jajah" type="text/css"> span.jajahWrapper { font-size:1em; color:#B11196; text-decoration:underline; } a.jajahLink { color:#000000; text-decoration:none; } span.jajahInLink:hover { background-color:#B11196; }</style>

Mad,

I completly agree with you 100%.  There are way too many questions as we head into the 2008 season.  Maybe it is too early to really worry about it, but if some of the issues (Chad, Levi, any productive RB, an old Willie, 2nd and 3rd WR, i could go on) arent resolved it could be another 7-9 season.  Im not sure an over active free agent period would have done anything.  They have never spent much in FA and never will.  Mike Brown is too cheap for that.  Thats why Shaun Rogers some how slipped away and we settle for a DE in Odom who doesnt play every down.  Only time will tell.

A good point I guess to bring up though is the fact that we did pretty well in the draft (in my opinion).  I just would like to see us address some of the problems we had last year in free agency there are still some good players out there.  Mike Brown is very cheap however there are some players we could get at some value I feel in free agency.  I guess it is just the curse of being a Bengals fan, last year I felt a little bit better about our situation in the offseason and look how that panned out for us.
