Upcoming series with St. Louis at STL.
What are your thoughts?

Quick prediction from me.
Seeing that the Pirates are terrible away(6-12) and against the division(4-7) i would be happy to see one game taken away from here.  Although 3 of the wins were against Cinci, 1 was against STL. The pitching is pitching well right now and the offense is just doing enough.  STL offense has been struggling and will look to turn it around.  They have some speed and should look to run on the pirates with weak defensive arms behind the plate.  I would love to think/see better things but, i don't see them getting two.  Unless STL offense continues to dwindle.

1 of 3 due to the away and division problems.  Until i see a fix i am not going to believe as much as i want.

We will get Lohse, Wellemeyer, and Pineiro in the series up against Dumatrait, Maholm, and Snell. Lohse has been on a downward trend of late and simply isn't anything more than a #4-5 SP, we hit Wellemeyer pretty well the 1st time we saw him, but Pineiro shut us down last time out. I think tonight's matchup is big because it is the least predictable. If we can sneak out a win tonight I like our chances of grabbing 2 of 3. Maholm must be better on the road and both he and Snell have to walk less batters.

I think we need 2 of 3 against St.Louis because Chicago has owned us and expecting more than 1 win from Gorzo, Duke, and Dumatrait there is a reach.

We need to win 2 but I say only one.  I like the Dumatrait matchup.  Eager to see how we do.

One Down, One Win, now with our Aces coming up in the rotation Snell, Maholm, Gorzelanny, it is now possible to come out of this road trip 3-3, I would take that, but would be thrilled with anything better then that

Very nice extra innings win to start the series, very important, we needed this win.

How about Salas showing up from Indy and getting the win? Or McLouth cooling down but continuing to produce.  Just about everyone was hitting, Dumatrait had a quality start.

All looked really good.

Today we'll see Maholm back again and hope to see LaRoche continue to heat up.  One concern is how long Doumit will be out with his thumb, though Paulino stepped up tonight.  Wellemyer has pitched well lately and against the Bucs historically.  We'll see.

It's funny, someone mentioned being happy with 3-3 on this road trip. I agree that would be good. However, the amazing thing is that I don't think this team would be satisfied with that. It seems that there is a tremendous amount of resiliency on this ball club. These guys I think genuinely want to win and turn this thing around.

Hey, I've said all along that this team isn't that bad. If these starters can keep this up and limit those bad starts to 1 out of 5,right now its 0 out of 5, (but that can't last can it?) instead of 2 out of 5, this team can and will surprise some people. The Doumit injury sucks, but as seems to be the case, perhaps someone will pick up the slack. Jack could be back for the Brewers series which would further energize these Buccos. The Pirates take 2 out of 3 from the Cards and 2 out of 3 from the Cubs. 4-2 road trip.

Lets GO BUCS

Big game today. After putting the bats away for the night, I think we our do for some runs. Although Pinero shut us down at PNC I think we can get to him.

Malholm gave us a decent start 4 runs in 6, despite having some really bad luck. Hopefully Snell can have a great start. We haven't seen many from him yet.

Lets go Bucs!
