Just heard a report that Rafeal Furcal will be going to the DL for his sore back.  A few days ago they were talking about him playing on tuesday.  What the heck is going on?

No doubt it's precautionary. Rafael Furcal piped up and said he wasn't feeling 100%, so it makes sense to give him time off to have him back at 100% later. We all know the impact a niggling injury can have on Raffy, as evidenced most of last year.

Rest up, come back scorching. It hurts now, but the best result is having him healthy and producing, not under-performing because of something that could be cured by a few days off. Keep in mind, it's not as bad as it sounds, this DL stint is retro-active to May 6th, so he can be activated in 8 days anyway.

It just sucks to lose him now.  And as evidenced by the 4 game losing streak, his presence is definitely needed.  The way the D'backs are slipping a bit right now, the way he starts the offense from the leadoff spot would really be helpful right now.  I agree with you about making sure he's 100% before coming back, but the timing just seems to suck when we have the opportunity to catch back up.  Hopefully some of the other guys will start to step it up and the pitching will start to pitch like it should again.  Maybe this series in Milwaukee will start a nice winning streak to lead them into the series against the Angels.

I would not want Raffy to come back till he is 100% either.  Better to have it happen now then in the end of the season.  Hope he can come back and pick up where he left off and that the time off doesn't slow down his bat any.  Get well soon Raffy!  We need ya.  Go Blue!
