I was doing some musing at work today, and I'm wondering what is going to happen against Detroit?  We have arguably 2 of our best 3 pitchers going in this series in Zach Greinke and Gil Meche, and one outstanding rookie in Luke Hochevar.  I got excited when this was the 3 going into the Texas series and guess what happened there?!  Not good....So, what does everyone think?

My feeling is that we take 2 of 3 and our offense continues to get healthy on crappy pitchers - which Detroit is loaded with.

I'm still behind this team, just wish we could get some consistent offense!

Grienke is really going good right now..  I look for this to be 2 of 3 for the ol' boys in blue from detriot. I haven't seen hochevar pitch live yet but he looks good.  Is tonights game in HD.  I freaking love watching baseball in high def.......

Yeah I still think we are at least a year or two away.  I've been banging the Barry Bonds drum.  I say bring this chump in let's see what he can do.  It's not like this team is void of mitchell report players (yes I mean you Jose and ur 11 mill).  You think it's a PR reason?

you can expect a lot from Detroit in this series.  The tigs play much better on the road, especially in KC.   Det is out for revenge in this series, look for big bats to come alive.  Don't get your hopes up KC, it's all down hill from here, abandon ship while you can.  You will be cellar dwellers once again.  Right where you belong.

Right where your teams been all season, you mean?  Well, we'll see what prevails...good pitching or good hitting.  Here's wishing three straight ninth innings of your Kitties facing Soria.

Don't get our hopess up?  Yeah right.  Greinke is lights out all day every day.  Whenever he takes the mound, the Royals have the best chance to win against any team in Major League Baseball.  Not many other teams can say that about their ace, but we can.  We need to lock him up with a contract now before anyone else offers him huge money that he can't resist.

As for the rest of the series, I am not that hopeful, but optimistic.  You can't keep those Detroit bats quiet forever, and I just don't think the Royals can keep up.  Our only hope for the next two games is that the Tigers' pitching is absolutely atrocious this year.  That at least gives the Royals a chance to score some runs, but I am not sure if we can slug it out with the Tigers.  That covers tonight, as for tomorrow night, we have a solid chance.  The good news for us Royals fans is that Meche has been decent this year, but he has not had a "lights out" game yet.  He is due.  So long as we can score 5 or 6 runs on Thursday, the New Blue Tradition can take 2 of 3 from the Tigers and keep them in the cellar of the AL Central.

I predict tonight, the Royals will lose a high scoring game, probably around 9-6.  On Thursday, Gil Meche pitches well, still not lights out, but well and the Royals win the last game of the series in a 5-4, edge of your seat game.

For my last rant, I want everyone to unite in my "bench Tony Pena" crusade.  I am sorry for all my fellow fans that like him, but he does not fit well on our team and where we need to go.  He fields the ball exceptionally, but he is one of the worst batters I have ever seen.  He has no plate discipline and swings at everything.  When he does make contact, there is no power or pop in the ball.  When he does get a hit, it looks very awkward and he himself always looks surprised.  Callaspo is not that bad of a fielder and he has a much better bat (just look at the numbers).  The Royals are having trouble scoring runs and we need as much pop in our lineup as we can get.  What we should do, since Pena is an exceptional fielder, is trade him to a team that needs a great defensive shortstop.  That way we can get something for him and not lose that much at that position.  Get Behing Callaspo!!!

Either way, I love the ROyals and I love the direction we are moving in.  We are not ready this year, and probably not next year either, but look for us to break .500 next year and then really contend in 2010.  GO ROYALS!!!

Boy I was way wrong about this being high scoring.  Hocheva is lights out right now.  Granted it is only the 5th Inning, but the Royals look really good right now.  We may just sweep.
