Ok folks lets get some opinions on this subject and perhaps give us something else to dwell on during the off season.  I remember Coach Stewart making the statement during a press conference THAT HE WANTED TO PLAY NOTRE DAME.  That the Irish would not play in Morgantown though and that WVU would have to play in another stadium, i.e. Parkersburg or other.

My question is WILL COACH STEWART GET HIS WISH??

Several factors are involved here that makes me have to choose the of SLIM POSSIBILITY.  Also in regards to that answer I would have to say if it did happen it would have to be in a non BCS bowl game and not as a regular season scheduled game.

I am going to post the tentative schedule of the Irish below up thru the year 2016 below.  I commented on the other thread titled "ANOTHER REASON TO HATE ND" that there was a deal in the works to get the Irish to play a min of 2 Big East teams on a yearly basis to beef up the teams scheduled games.   You might note that of ALL the Big East teams that are NOW being scheduled that THREE (SYRACUSE, LOUISVILLE and WEST VIRGINIA) are not reflected.  We know Coach is 55 and by 2016 he will be in the early 60's, so what do you feel are his chances of getting his wish.   Remember this IF Notre Dame has a great season and WVU does also in that same year, the Irish gets the pick over WVU which bowl they wish to attend over the Mountaineers.  Below is the Irish schedule, so tell me folks what to you think on this subject:

I don't think ND wants to play WV, it would just be another loss for them.   They need to find teams they can beat.  I would love to see Stew get his wish and I believe we would beat them if we played them on Mars.  When is the BCS gonna wake up and see that ND is over rated and has been for quite a while.  When this happens and the BCS drops them from Bowl consideration based on their reputation (LOL) they will  have to play in a conference to get to play in a bowl game and since they are in the BE for basketball it would be logical for them to play football in the BE also, then WV could beat them on a regular basis

I agree 100% with everything you said wvujax.  Especially the part about scheduleing teams they (I will add THEY THINK) can beat.  I added the THINK because our teams in the Big East that are comming on fairly well now do have a good chance of beating the Irish, especially the way they (ND) are and have been playing lately.  The scheduleing of those Big East Teams they currently have on their future schedule will make for some interesting games with a potential for loss for the Irish.  However, if Notre Dame does get things going again and start playing like they have shown in the past it could be a different story altogether.  Lets hope when our fellow Big East teams do play them that it starts a sweep of the Irish for the Big East that perhaps forces them to change their minds and join the Conference in all sports.

At the present though I have a NAGGING question.  I have looked and still yet have not found, the particulars of the current agreement between the Big East and Notre Dame that is in effect.   I know as I stated above that Notre Dame does get its pick over the other Big East Teams in regards to what bowl they go to if they have a really good year.  What I am wondering is IF they were say ranked higher than the Big East Champion in a year our champion was in the running for a BCS NC bowl bid.  Then could the Irish knock our Conference Champion out of that BCS NC bowl and force them to go to say the next higher bowl game (i.e. Orange bowl or which ever is higher).  In other words if the NC title game invite was involved could they  then take the Big East teams place in that game?  If that happened I would be really ticked off if they (ND) was not a full member in football and took that opportunity away from our Conference.  I realize that normally the number 1 and 2 ranked teams play.   But it would really be upsetting if say for example USC happened to be #1 and unbeaten, Notre Dame was #2 with one loss and a Big East Team was unbeaten and ranked #3 and our team got bumped from the title game by Notre Dame.

We have seen unbeaten teams jumped over before and not get into the game, (i.e. back in 1993 when Florida State with one loss bumped WVU (11-0) to play Nebraska (11-0) in the title game.
