According to this report, ECU's willing forego bowl money until they make a BCS bowl, join for football only, guarantee all Big East schools 2,500 in away attendance, and accept admission on a trial basis.

What's not to like about this deal?  This is a good team with a decent football history, a 40,000+ stadium, OOC contracts with SEC teams, a well thought of coach, and besides its gives the Big East a presence right in the middle of the ACC!  And it fixes the irritating unbalanced schedule of 4 home, 3 away and vice versa.   SIGN EM UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Big East would probably need another team then, b/c 9 isn't gonna hack it as a conference number in football.  And with another team, you're looking @ a TWENTY team basketball league.

I think East Carolina is overrating their own pedigree.  If they add 2 more teams in football, they've got to do something about the amount of basketball teams in that league.  It's  getting to be a joke.

Alright, a correction.  ECU doesn't have SEC OOC games.  Article says their home games have an "SEC feel".  What this I haven't any idea.  Hard to have an SEC feel without at least 80,000 fans in the seats.

If thats ECU's offer props to them for trying to get into a BCS conference.

I think Big East fans would like to see a bigger Fish like Notre dame or Penn State, but I agree they need to get their conference aligned. Football with 8 teams and basketball with 50 or so.

Yes, this would be a good thing for the Big East because ECU is a fairly good team, with a good, young up and coming coach in Skip Holtz. The rumor I've heard is that the Big Ten now has pretty much narrowed the teams they want to join the Big Ten for the 12th member down to 4. Those teams are Syracuse, Missouri, Iowa St and Notre Dame. If the Big East losses Syracuse that's really bad for the conference because of the basketball thing along with Syracuse being located near one of the largest cities in the world. If the Big East wants to become a bigger conference they need to seriously expand their stadiums, I heard that Rutgers was expanding their stadium to 55,000 seats, which is a good start, but they need to make it bigger.

Here's what the Big East needs to do:

1. Get more teams into conference, while trying to even it out with the amount of basketball teams, maybe let a few of the only basketball teams out of the conference.

2. Expand Stadiums, this may not sound like a big deal, but teams need to have fairly large stadiums because it generates more money and gives more a homefield advantage.

3. Don't let any of the conference members leave. That means that the conference can't let any of the schools to leave the Big East for a difference conference. Like Syracuse to the Big Ten, Big East fans may think that it's not that big of a deal, but with Syracuse being good at basketball, and other sports, along with being near NYC it's huge if they left.

I agree the Big East can not lose the Cuse. They have been down in football but the whole New York area is a great fan base and TV draw.

As a Big Ten fan I would rather see Syracuse than Notre Dame. The Irish would want all kinds of concessions and they are not the DIVA'S they once were.

Good luck to ECU it would be a great for them.

Sounds good for ECU, not sure it does much to up-grade BE. It would help with the balanced schedule as you stated.

You know you people who don't live in the New York area have no idea whatsover about the geography.  Syracuse does not draw anywhere past Albany.  Syracuse never has and never will be able to deliver the NYC market.  If the Big 10 thinks they'll get an entry to the NYC market by taking Syracuse they are fools.  That's like taking Fresno St. and expecting to make inroads into Los Angeles.  Good luck with that one.

This wouldn't be that much of a step up for ECU their conference is already about on par with the Big Least.

ftbl07   Are you kidding? The bid least should be SCARED of a team with East Carolinas background. UCONN joined the big least and tied for first in the conference in their fourth season. East Carolina could possibly take over that conference in 2 or 3 years.

I thinkcalling those two conferences "on par" is a slap in the face to  conference USA.

Lytr posts like that explain why you're only a rookie after over a year on this board.

I thinkcalling those two conferences "on par" is a slap in the face to  conference USA.

I must respectfully disagree with your post.  Not the part about the Big East and Conference USA.  That's opinion and everyone is entitled to their own.  My objection is to the first two words of this quote which you apparently state as a fact.  I have never seen any objective evidence to substantiate this, and in fact I defy you
