Long it has been since last we spoke. How are things in the land of many recent tragedies, some slightly more tragic (Eight Belles) than others (Caracter leaving, oh no)?

Anybody pumped for football season? I'm ready to see what the so called "improved" (would be a stretch of the imagination) UK defense can do against the still stellar UofL offense. More then that, I am ready to see why the UofL offense has to start on the 1 yard line to give the defense a fighting chance? Correct me if I misunderstood something about that lovely article.

Anyway, its never to early to get started on some predictions. Who wins? Is it even close? Will Kragthorpe still have a job if he suffers through another "drag" of a season? Will I ever read a Rich Brooks quote sans the parenthetical additions?

Personally, I have to go with no on the latter 2. As for the first, of course I'm picking my 'Cats. I think it will be a nailbiter, and a much lower scoring game. Our Defense is supposedly too far improved, while our Offense is much depleted. Your D is still apparently abysmal, while the O looks like it could be as strong as last year.

24-23 'Cats, Locke runs for two, Pulley runs for one and Lones Seiber goes 1-6 from inside the 20. Cantwell marches the team down the field a few times, but cant punch it in and must settle for field goals. Stripling breaks two long TD runs as well. Pulley throws 2 INT's, Hartline throws one, Cantwell has two fumbles after getting his block rattled by Micah Johnson.

Sorry Reefer you got $hit all wrong, First off Srtipling prolly wont even play, Cantwell is a Soldier and if you havent notice, just watch the Gator Bowl when Va Tech Hit him all over and Bloodied and broke his nose and he didnt even fumble once, so i highly doubt he'll fumble twice. also are defense is not as bad as people think, i mean damn all we have to do to beat you guys is to cover and not let anyone get past us on a last play down the field.

GRF- You need to put the kool aid cup down NOW!!!  This game is hard to call. UL will be better on defense(DUH!! You can only look up when you're on the bottom) and UK will be worse on offense(lost too many good skill position players). Stripling is the next candidate to be kicked off UL and is buried on the depth chart anyway. UL offense vs UK defense= stalemate.  UK offense vs UL defense equals must not see TV(The Immobile object vs the
no resistance force). Have to go to a tiebreaker here. Neither school wins both the basketball game and football game so I give it up(begrudgingly) to UK, 31-28. THERE WILL BE BLOOD PAYBACK come basketball time. Nice to see you're back.

But think about the stable of thoroughbreds in the UK backfield, and the hoss-like O-line we have returning. Its not a stretch of the imagination to think the team with 250+ rushing yards will be the 'Cats.

Locke- 4.21 40 time

Smith- 4.24 40 time

Plus, the UK defensive front will not allow 250+ from the cards. Our defense lost nobody but Woodyard from last year, yet we added a few 4 and 5 star recruits to the line up. I dont think it is unreasonable to say the 'Cats will have a top 25 defense, with most likely a bottom 35 offense. I think it will be a good game, if not interesting to see what Jeckyll vs. Hyde looks like on the football field. Two completely different teams, relying on two completely different aspects of the game.

Sorry Grim I have read the spring reports. UofK's D is ok, their O is terrible. Hey you can come on and build your team up, but come on man. UofK had their year in the SEC sun. Its over. No QB, WR, TE, and 1 RB left worth anything. OL come on now you lost 2 as well. D you should be alright. However with no offense, teams will start to pull away later in the games.

Things must be pretty damn slow to be talking about a prediction in May, on a game in September.

I think the Cards D will be better than has been projected, but still weak. Gee when was it ever all that strong? The offense s
