True, we were pretty damn bad last year. We're on pace to be worse this year which makes no sense because we have so many better players (Joey Votto, Johnny Cueto, Edinson Volquez, Francisco Cordero, Jeremy Affeldt) . Guess there just isn't any team chemistry in the clubhouse.

By the end of the year, your record will probably be better than last year

I sure as hell hope so, or else I can see a major fire sale going down. Actually I can see a fire sale happening if we are still pretty far out of it come June or July.

I Think I enjoy some good reportaire with most Met fans ... the one prabale exclusion being Sal. Hey we all love our teams, and sometimes it is difficult to look at them without the rose colored glasses. When you get to step back and look at what others write about your team...sometimes your first instinct is anger, but after looking it it a couple times, sometimes you'll also concede they may be right.

The Braves and Phillies looked really good today vs some awesome baseball teams. Tim Lincecum is going to make a lot of good teams look bad.

As far as I'm concerned, a little good smack talking is part of the game.  And recently, there have been more than enough things about the Mets that a Braves, Phillies, Marlins, or any other team's fans can take advantage of.  The Mets are 18-15 and I doubt that is where many people, particularly many Mets fans, expected them to be.  So there's a lot of material there and Mets fans can either deal with it or whine.

But when the smack talking amounts to nothing more than "ESPN wants the Mets to win it all", or any other BS conspiracy theory, then the poster is just a consummate moron and would be better off keeping that fact hidden.

Besides that, if you want to talk smack, at least try to be a little clever.   That means you need to come up with something besides mentioning that Aaron Heilman gave up another home run.  Some folks on here don't need to write posts anymore.  They can just include a link to their last post since they are always the same.

That being said, I hope the NL East Smack Fest continues all year, because with a few exceptions, it's been really entertaining.

"Yeah making the playoffs 14 straight years is great....13 early exits? Not so great....haven't won a playoff series since 2001....not so great....."

This is the reason I dislike Red Sox fans. Look at this. They've won 2 championships in 4 years and all of a sudden they're the judge of what is an accomplishment and what isn't. Nevermind they get beat on by the Yankees most seasons, which is a more true determinant of a team's ability level. Never mind they went 86 years without sniffing a championship. What the Braves did was an unprecedented accomplishment. No one has come close. And it wasn't a bad division, either, for a lot of it.

Red Sox fans are becoming as unsufferable as Yankees fans. Your probably the one bitching when a Yanks fan says "26".

I am a Met fan and there is two players in the MLB that I cannot stand (besides the whole Yankees starting lineup):

The 2 Met killers (I am sure every Met fan knows who I am talking about...)

Pat Burrell

and

Larry "Chipper" Jones

If you look at their numbers against the Mets, It is saddening. I am sure they are above .400 with like 10 homers 40 rbis some crazy numbers. If you kind find the stats anywhere. POST THEM!

Here are the numbers for Chipper:
.328, 38 HR, 118 RBI, 19 for 24 in SB

Here are the numbers for Burrell:
.251, 41 HR, 102 RBI

I would have though that Burrell's average is higher.  He has 123 hits, 41 of them (one-third) are HRs.

Check out Base Reference online.  All the info is there.

Yeah making the playoffs 14 straight years is great....13 early exits?  Not so great....haven't won a playoff series since 2001....not so great..... 5 WS appearances in 10 years................not early exits. 5 WS appearances in 14 years? Still really good. Do you realize that not winning the WS is very different than an "early exit'?

Wouldn't that be like Braves fans telling Red Sox fans they weren't even close in '86 against the Mets?  Sure you guys were an out away, but according to your account, it's only a feat if you win it.  Obviously the Braves would love to trade those WS losing series' for championships, but think about it this way.  Would you rather be a team who won the division every year, played in the playoffs, and came close but lost it, or have a losing team every year and know your team isn't worth it?

14 straight division titles is a great feat.  Obviously not the greatest, but it is up there.  You're becoming quite the homer pretty quick.
