Seriously. If Ortiz or A-rod were off to Berkman's start, ESPN would be fellating them daily. But right now he's getting the Houston treatment with about a five-second mention at the very end of baseball tonight.
What a great start though. Last year at this point, Berkman was batting .240 with 16 RBIs, 17 runs, 3 HRs, and just 1 double for an OPS of .740.
Right now? .380 BA, 35 RBIs, 38 runs, 12 HRs, and .1244 OPS. Oh, add to it 6 SBs and great defense at first. People have always joked about him being a bit... overweight. But this year he looks svelt, and he's running the bases as well as anybody. This is fun to watch. And of course his BA will drop eventually, but as Bourn starts to get on base more, the RBIs are going to keep rolling in.
